20 years of Seti@home

Just noticed it's been 20 years.
And I started officially on Towel Day!
Ok, there was a notice in Boinc so I saw it after a while.
Been crunching over 20 years if you count the beta period before official launch.
That's some cycles!

The disappointment here is that after 20 years of searching, we're still not yet find the little green man.

Or probably they just afraid of our ability cramming so much CPU cores into one socket.

One way of looking at it is that we have all this time been proving the we are indeed alone in the universe...
I like to see it like this:
All science is built on the shoulders of science that has come before it, we have been accumulating data for some time, some discoveries have been made.
We never know what will be done with our science in the future, but there's a lot of data that someone may be able to use one day.

Nah don't worry, we've barely scratched the surface, the galaxy is a massive place (150,000+ LYs across), not to mention we have to be looking at the right place, right time & right frequency (assuming 'they' use radio). Only after we have scanned in all directions on all useable frequencies constantly for decades can we safely rule out ET on radio.
Originally I thought we'd find them in ~10yrs, lol.

I'm a little out of touch on the latest SETI gear, but IIRC wide band & wide space searches have only really been occurring over the past 10yrs or so. (Can some clarify that btw?).

Oh btw, my 20yr anniversary is in October, so not long now!
I can't believe we are still crunching & still (mostly) together after 20yrs!
