200 Front Side Bus or 266 Front Side Bus??

How can I tell the difference between a 1.2 200Mhz FSB or a 266Mhz FSB? Will it tell me on the CPU?

Most 200 FSB chips will run on a 266 FSB bus, the problem is how your system handles the FSB setup and CPU multipiers. But a true 266 FSB chip will have a C in the part number (same line where it says 1200).

Yep ,though you may need to unlock the multipliers & set it lower

EDIT: As Assimilator1 pointed out, it may be a bit more difficult. Several sites, including this one, did reports on the hazzards of running a 200MHz FSB chip at 266MHz. How either you needed a board that had the settings all in the bios or all on jumpers/switches, but not a combination of the 2. Or you had to alter another set of bridges on the chip(besides the L1 bridges). This applies to both 200MHz Athlons and Durons.

To answer the first question, yes it will tell you on the CPU which version you have.

Thank you for the link!!! Exactly what I needed... I thought I was going to get an EOM chip and thought I would need this information but I got a retail version. Great link though.
