Hey ive got a 2000+thoroughbred on an a7v8x MB with an slk-900u with a 92mm tornado fan that puts out 119cfm, runs at about 30 degrees idle, 35 with a heavy load on it. If i put on better case fans itll drop down around 28 idle 32 with load, im running 1gig crucial 2700 ram (two 512 meg chips) how far do you think i can take it? I would like to just up it to the 2083mhz setting thats in the bios(all it does is up the FSb) think i can do this with stability? Any information on OCing this board would be appreciated.

why don't you try it and see what happens?

every cpu/mobo combo can be different and just changing FSB won't harm the CPU . . . worst is just no-POST.

of course start upping the v-core and there's some chance for damage, but you've got low temps and great cooling, it seems.

i haven't seen T-bred B core 2000+ chips. is your's 'B'? that could be a limiting factor as the 'A' core chips don't seem to o/c as well.

I dont think its rev B, cant be positive without looking at chip, but do you think that the speed that i have in my sights is reasonably attainable without any problems. I would have tested it already, but I'm waiting on my pc 2700 crucial ram, it is supposed to be here tommarow.

i've heard that ~1.9GHz may be more realistic, but you may want to do a search to see what others have posted.

dnycompbuilder, I have a 2100+ tbred B on the A7N8X-DX with the SLK-900U and a panaflo L1A 92mm and I"m getting 34C in prime95 torture test. I also have 2 256MB Crucial PC2700.

I don't know what it'll go up to, that's this weekend but I've been hearing that I should be able to push it up to around 2GHz with out much of a problem.

Look below for the rest of the specs

Hey that bdyeager was me posting from my brothers account. Dropped my multiplier to 11.5 raised my fsb to 162 running stable and able @2600+(1.863ghz) survived 15 hrs of torture test hitting 36c at peek temp havent touched anything but bus and multiplier. Pointers on adjustment to take it past this? Shooting for 1.9ghz all tips appreciated.

How can you say its a 2600+ when its at 1.8xx GHz? More importantly why is every other thread about "How far can I get with this particular setup???" There is no way for us to know, we can all guess if that will make you feel better, but every chip is different.

Well I"ve been tweaking a bit, I got my 2100+ up to 170 x12 (2040MHz), ran prime95 for 8 hours no problems, max CPU temp of 38C. Pushed the AGP bus a little, up to 70MHz managed to hit 10054 in 3DMark2k1SE for what it's worth. Gonna keep it here and bump it a little each day, see what it'll do.

Tbates im not a complete moron, i know very well that every chip is different and every combo is different. I dont exspect to get an exact reading from anyone i posted in hopes of learning what people have gotten from these chips on multiple platforms, i just wanted a general idea of what people are getting out of them. I never thought someone would be like oh well you should be able to get it XXXX speed, And i didnt want a massive overclock im happy with just playing with it im not out to set any sort of record just wanna get it as high as i can safely without screwing with my voltages too much. As far as the 2600+ goes, well this is the reading i was getting from PCProbe if its not accurate my bad, but im gonna make an educated guess and say that it read the speed as that high because there is an AthlonXP 2600+ that runs a 266 fsb and im running at a 324fsb i know that 1.874 isnt 2600+ speed, but then 324 fsb isnt the 266fsb speed athlon xp 2600s have either(this is provided its not the 2600 chip that runs the 333fsb). Now im not saying this bench is entirely accurate but if its not i am goign to have to say that maybe this FSB deal is the reason. BTW Winter cool to hear your having such luck with you 2100 rev b i heard they can get wicked overclocks, hehe if i woulda known the OC bug was gonna hit me i woulda bought one of them, btw what graphics card you running

Running an ATi Radeon 8500 64MB @275/275, didn't get much improvement pushing it anymore, might try again as soon as I whip some ramsinks at work

I take it you have a tbred A? I hear the Tbred B 2100+ is like $87 shipped at Googlegear

Yeah pretty sure its an "A", had to take it down to 11.5X162/32 still running @1863 with a FSB of 324 temps=33 idle, 38 with prime95 going, i guess im happy with it i heard other people saying 1.9 is about the wall for these chips and i hit 1863 with no voltage or memory adjustment and im not on an Nforce board, via kt400 a7v8x best post ive gotten was 165/34@1897.5 wish i could hold it without adjusting my voltages but what can i say im a puss with no money to spend so dont wanna risk frying this chip at all. So i guess ill be sated with this one till the barton prices come down some then its time to drop one of those with a 333fsb and the lower .13 micron onto this board and see where itll take me prices wont drop until May when the 400mhz bartons are released but hell by then ill have some money and itll be time for a new video card by then too so ill be like a kid in a candy store for awhile, those 2 512 meg sticks of DDR2700 crucial i just picked up are kicking my butt, along with all the fans and stuff i just got for this system im out about 400$ all that for cooling and ram and a new PS. The g-froce3 ti-500 im sporting is really shiity, snapped a capacitor off of it,it still works though, however runs frigin hot brings my system temp up by about 4 degrees and that is no good, craving a 9700 pro but cost too much

Hey just took it a little further seems stable so far at 11.5X164/33@1.886ghz putting it to the prime95 torture as i sit here. Dieing to hit 11.5X166 dont know if itll happen. Memory settings still auto vcore voltage now=1.725 temp is 36c right now but fluxing up to 37 now and again. Did this under the 162/32 setting as well but after 3 or 4 hrs levelled off at 35c. If i can hit the 11.5/166 marker im gonna call it quits and let this rig hold at that. Overclockers.com has a guy whos hit 2225mhz at 2.00 vcore and a volcano 7 fan. Crazy bastard.Guess what i heard was right theve got a whole bunch right around 1.9ghz 1.886 allmost there 1.897 is what im shooting for wish me luck. Hows your 2100 B doing winter?

Still sitting at 170x12 (2040GHz) been running prime95 and the sandra burn-in test, didn't go over 37C, now at idle/internet browsing it's running at 1C under board temp at 33 (board is at 34). haven't had any problems yet. running stock timings on the RAM and 1.7V on the CPU (1.65 in the BIOS, I think I heard that the a7n8x overvolts by .05) Probably push it a bit tomorrow if all goes well.

Well just took it up to a 1.825 voltage running it at 11.5X167/34 which computes out to 1921mhz with a fsb of 334 running prime95 right now temps at 33c right now, because the temp in my house is lower than it was yesterday i suppose. @1.75 volts 11.5X165 it was hitting a max of 38c but when i awoke the smorning and checked it it was at 35c and i had left prime95 on all night? Any clue why that might be? So right now im at 1921mhz and 334 fsb sandra is telling me model # rating is 2600, and my pr rating is 2810. Gonna test it at this temp for a few hrs if it takes it gonna bump it up to 168 im not upping hte voltage anymore so whatever i get out of it at this voltage will be the wall for me. I love this Slk-900u and 92mm tornado combo keeps stuff nice and cool
