Go with the 2005FPW if:
- You will play games.
- You will watch DVD's.
- You will be doing photo editing.
- You will be doing movie editing.
- You don't want your display to be obsolete in 2 years
Go with the 2001FP if:
- 1680x1050 is not enough real estate for you.
- You absolutely must have the largest physical display area (in square inches).
If you can't tell already, I went with the 2005FPW.

I don't agree with your 2005FPW points but each his own.
You can change the horizontal FOV to match the widescreen FOV and gain vertical picture.Originally posted by: driver
Well, obviously, if you don't play games
Difference is only ~10%.or watch dvd's on the computer,
a 20.1" 4:3 UXGA screen that is only 5% less wide than a 20" 16:10 screen is not going to be obsolete any time soon.are willing to replace the display(s) in a couple of years, then by all means go for twin 2001FP's.

This is no different than what happens with the standard FOV on the 2001FP vs the WS FOV on the 2005FPW. Or how else do you think you can get a wider frame on a smaller monitor?Originally posted by: driver
I've already mentioned that. The side effect is that everything on screen is smaller to get it to fit. It's like playing an FPS where your viewpoint is 5 feet back from where you're actually standing. Not a very good solution. More like a kludge, actually.
What makes you think a 60" 4:3 TV is obsolete today? And if something makes the 2001FP obsolete, my bet is that it will make the 2005FPW obsolete as well.Did you think that a 60" 4:3 TV would have been obsolete in 2 years a couple of years ago? Technology moves incredibly fast these days.
You can get the same width picture on a 4:3 display by changing the default FOV to around 90.Originally posted by: Euripides
Holy crap, after looking at the link to the widescreen gaming forum provided by Driver. The shots for HL2 look great on the 2005FP. Will do alot more reading tonight but I am pretty much sold on the 2005FWP.
