<< The 2002 Cobra will cost slightly more than the 2001 model; however, it will have numerous upgrades - including a factory supercharger. >>

I've heard the idea of a factory supercharger tossed around by more than just BON (and anyone familiar with BON will know what I would look for other sources)... including a friend that works "near" SVT. He will not confirm, nor deny, the story, simply responds that SVT makes cars for enthusiasts and a

But it's from along time ago, and I think the subject should be revisited as this is a reality car and not a fantasy dream machine held by the "I'm going to make 6 figure's when I grow up" crowd

The new 5.0 is the one I'm waiting for BTW

Hehe.. I'd put money on it being made..

Besides, the document scans were just added earlier today indicating when the car would go on sale..

It's not just the Terminator that will get the SC, it's all Cobras.. Should make for a nice package, and really give the Vette a run for it's money.

Nothing shows up when I do a title search for mustang or cobra or supercharger, so maybe it was posted a while ago.

Yep I can't wait to see what they are going to do with it, the 2004 I think is the 1st year thats leaving the Fox platform. should be interesting, but also at the same time cause a big change in the aftermarket Mustang world.

LMAO... okay wait now, were all talking about the same Vette here right? the one made by Chevrolet? the one that has a better stopping distance then most econo boxes even that only weigh ten ounces?

Vette's have some serious brakes, if I remember right the Z06 comes with 6 caliper brakes. look at the car you drive, I'm betting on that big 1, my truck even has 2

superchargers arent that expensive. from a cost standpoint i dont see why they wouldnt do it, maybe from a reliability standpoint it could be an issue tho

Well, it's all bench racing until the thing is actually at the track, but a 01 Cobra does the 1/4 in 13.5@105, and a 01 Vette does it in 13.1@109 w/ the 02 Z06 doing it in 12.4@116. Figure that an SC will give it at least 50HP, and you're right up there in "normal" Vette territory. Now road course times are a different matter.. gunna be hard to compare those until a rag goes out and does a comparision test.

After 25 years, the Mustang will no longer be a hopped up Fairmont. Refreshing!

BTW, I had a chance to drive quite a few USAnian cars a while back at a special track day, I drove the Z06, Mustang something, Dodge Viper RT/10

I have to say if they put some brakes on the Z06, and tuned its handling a bit more, it would be a fine piece of machenery. God awful interior though. Of note, many people will look at a cars stopping distance in car mags and say oh.. the Z06 stops in 100ft from 60mph it must have fantastic brakes... well thats not the case, many porsches, ferraris etc. may not stop in as few feet but their brakes stand up to constand abuse unlike Viper&Corvette, which turn to mush after about 10 heavy braking periods.

It'll be a good idea for those who want to mod it - a new pulley and you just dropped a lot off your 1/4 time - but I think instead of taking the easy way out, Ford should have actually sat down and gotten the most out of it that they could. A lot of L's are having intercooler problems now - they should save the hassle and just drop an engine with some actual torque in it like GM did.

That would be 6 PISTON calipers. Not 6 calipers. Each brake disc still has only one set of calipers, it's just that each caliper has 6 pistons pressing against the brake pads. Aside from either reading the spec sheet for your vehicle or taking the calipers apart, or getting the caliper part numbers and researching from there, most of the time you cannot tell how many pistons a caliper has. I have never, not once, seen a car with more than one caliper per brake disc. If you can show me a photograph of your truck's brakes that shows two calipers per brake disk, I may be inclined to believe you. Also, most cars built after the '70s have dual piston calipers for disc brakes.

My memory was wrong, now that I remember the Z06 has quad PISTON and the 2000 Cobra-R had the 6 PISTON

I wouldn't compare a Z06 or even a regular Corvette to a non-Saleen Mustang.. It's just not as good.. esp. against the Z06 (sweet wheels)

Yep one of the big advantages to an OHV motor, can hold very nice Torque bands :/

<< Now if they could make it handle worth a damn it would be great. >>

Your referring the the V6 stangs kenny brown races right? the ones with the IRS's that are beating the porsche's?
>>

Kenny Brown suspension rocks... This is one time that I would use that rolleyes smiley.

But that's neither here nor there. The stock suspension on the Mustang is... umm... not the greatest. Slap on some stuff from Griggs, and then we'll talk.

BTW, it's not worth our time to argue about which aftermarket suspension for the Mustang is the best.. Fact remains that it is aftermarket stuff because the technology used in the Mustang chasis is leftover from the 70's and we all know that it needs tons of work... Hence S197..

Dude, these factory domestic muscle cars are getting disgustingly fast and powerful. Those LS1 fbodies GM is putting out these days would smoke exotics that were being sold when I was growing up, which wasn't even that long ago. I mean damn, it wouldn't surprise me if a Z28 SS could smoke a Testarossa.

I'm just saying that it ain't worth it to discuss the merits of various aftermarket suspensions, just that KB's stuff leaves alot to be desired as far as aftermarket suspensions go, but this ain't the time nor place to discuss that...
