LOL, Nissan has updated their tow rating to 9,500 lbs http://www.nissanusa.com/vehicles/FutureModelCompare/0,,26566,00.html Ford can't change their rating now as the F-150 is already on the market Silly rabbits!!

Bwahahahah Nissan should have made it 9,525 just to piss Ford off even more

9,501 would have been even better

It'll be interesting to see a towing contest b/t the two. Pretty much every review stated the Titan has the off the line quickness, whereas the Ford is geared more towards towing (in terms of gear ratio and such), explaining why it feels sluggish

if i didn't need the towing power of an F250 i'd jump on that.

? The Titan has more towing power.

Note: Spamela your sig link doesn't work.

Maximum is 9500 lbs. Instead of comparing specs on paper, wait till both come out before you claim the Titan is a nicer truck. It's obvious you're a Nissan fanboi so I might as well stop here.

You do know that the F-150 was originally supposed to tow 9,400 lbs don't you. It was in all the pre-release material for the F-150 and even quoted at the Detroit Auto show. Then Nissan came out with 9,400 lbs for their Titan as well and Ford "magically" upped their tow rating on the F-150 to 9,500 lbs.

It's just a pissing contest.

How realistic are those tow ratings though? I'm pretty sure a truck that is rated for 9500lbs can tow something of 10,000lbs without killing the vehicle. At teh worst, you coudl get a tranny and differential cooler.

Those are theoretical maximums that push the components of the truck to it's limits without damage. It's pretty stupid to be towing around close to 10,000lbs with a light duty truck anyway - no sane (ie, smart) person would do that. If you ask that question on any truck forum they'll say the same thing

Aren't trucks like the Frontier, S10, Ranger considered light duty while F150, Sivlerado, Titan, Tundra are considered heavy duty?

Heavy Duty = F-250/F350, Silverado HD/Sierra HD, Ram 2500/3500

Ah ok. Makes sense.

Then whats the point of having those Frontier/Ranger/S10 type trucks? Can they tow decently?

Believe it or not, not everyone with a truck tows. What's wrong with using a small truck to carry lighter loads and tow 5000lbs?

Most people dont even need the capacity of an f-150. Light trucks can carry home almost anything you can buy at home depot.

Think Dodge has a R/T 10 coming out?

They have (or are) coming out with the SRT-10 (Viper motor in a standard cab Ram mated to a 6 speed).

Silly rabbits!!

Well they can always make a performance version!

A "performance" F-150 (aka Lightning) would tow and haul far less.

Well I was assuming towing performance.

But damn those lightings are fast.

Wonder if someone will make a performance truck again with AWD like the old Syclones.

Those where very nasty in their day and even still today.

One for sale.

The Silverado SS is AWD, but it's a pansy truck with no balls.

A $40,000 POS that nearly got owned (only ahead by .2 second 0-60) by a $28,000 Dodge 1500 Hemi in the latest MT. MT declared the Hemi the overall winner.

The sad thing is that the base price for the Hemi was $22,040. They just added some nice options to make it comparable to the rip-off $40,000 SS.

I looked @ the 04's quite a bit when I was shopping with a friend for an 03'

One of the nicest features is the torsion bar on the tailgate, makes it a hell of a lot easier to raise & lower.

Class Exclusive Tailgate Assist*
All the boxes incorporate Tailgate Assist, a feature that helps reduce opening and closing efforts. The feature uses a torsion bar that twists with the tailgate as it is lowered and raised, absorbing some of the weight. In essence, it helps makes the tailgate feel ?lighter? without sacrificing the strength of steel or the ability to lock or remove the tailgate.
