Last week I bought a Dell 2005fpw. The product label says it's an A03 (yes, three--perhaps a new revision?) assembled January 2006 in Mexico.
My question to anyone who has used a 2005fpw before is if you've noticed a red haze over the monitor. In my 2005fpw it is particularly visible over a black background and when I'm not looking at the monitor exactly straight on. If I start tilting my head a little, a pinkish haze becomes visible, steadily deepening into red as the angle increases. Even straight-on, I can see patches of pink in the corners.
I've tried everything--from adjusting the monitor's position, color levels, brightness and contrast, adjusting the room lighting, etc. Even when the monitor it is off, I can see a red halo over the surface where sunlight or room light reflects off of it.
A search of this forum uncovered the following. Should I take it to mean that this problem is a defect?
Thanks in advance. I've found this forum tremendously helpful in my past researches.

Go to thread"My 2005FPW has a strange "red sheen" to the panel itself, much like some sort-of anti-reflective film or anti-glare film being put on it. I've run into one other 2005FPW owner who reports the same thing -- everyone else claims we're crazy. The 2405FPW has nothing like this -- you get a nice, evenly distributed lighting with no weird colours when looking at it from an angle. "
