I bought the Gateway FPD2185W from a BestBuy. The panel is fantastic. It looks ugly in the pictures, but is shiny on the sides, the back, and the front. I have connected an S-Video source, and the picture looks better than the 2005FPW (BTW this is my 6th 2005FPW panel... and I am waiting on a 7th replacement that's suppose to be here on Monday). I have ran it for dead pixels and everything, and nada. I also ran Day of Defeat for like 10 minutes (played the annoying chyrad_v2 map). In The videos and pictures look similar to the 2005FPW. I haven't checked the monitor for backlight bleed yet, as the Sun is still shining in my room. I will update this post at night to let you guys know about the backlight bleed.
The panel's packaging was one of the most annoying - I had to call my brother for help to get it removed from its packaging; it's sealed tight, but still. ANother major issue is the freaking panel is not supplied with a DVI cable (no big issue as I have a couple of them lying around anyway). All in all, I am, up to this point better satisfied with this monitor's performance and colors compared to the DELL's. I may be exaggerating a bit, but then I am still a living example of DELL's lack of service... I have exchanged the 2005FPW for 7 times (almost) and still have no success getting a perfect panel. Look out for this thread later at night for my assessment of the backlight bleed.
Also, the 10% off BB code doesn't work. I paid $641.99 for this panel - if it has no backlight bleeding issues, I am going to keep it. On the contrary, I paid $540 of the 6th 2005FPW replacement. If I get quality @ $641.99, I don't mind it. Moreover, this panel fully supprts HDTV @ 720p, too.
