Dell Small Business offers the Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1"
Widescreen LCD monitor for $699. (To find it, search for "2005FPW"). Apply coupon codes "-" and "-" at checkout to slash the price to $394.35.
With free shipping, that's $108 under our previous listing and the lowest total price we've seen since July. Sales tax is added where applicable. Features include a native resolution of 1680x1050, 600:1 contrast ratio, 12ms response time, and analog input. Offer ends October 11 at 7 am ET or after 1,500 coupon redemptions.

The only thing I hate about ordering monitors online is CA residents are charged $8 environmental fee + tax

Check on the coupon deal websites.

I already bought a 24" widescreen CRT so that means everyone is going to get a Dell deal now. You can thank me for buying my CRT.

Do you have to have a business to order from this dept anyway?

(just worked it out and it comes to $433.80. Suddenly doesn't seem all that great for CA residents. Sure is tempting though to have my CRT + this in dual mode)

Been waiting for this, but gonna wait 2-3 weeks to see if they will drop the price even more, end of month/end of quarter. Also since the announcement of that Gateway 21" and BenQ 20" widescreen, been wavering a bit on this Dell monitor.

$394 is a good price - I paid $560 for mine (although that was about 9 months ago, and includes tax too). I don't think you'll be disappointed if you order it

You can also get the 2005FPW to that price at Dell Home if you use the 35% coupon with the stackable $60 coupon. For me here in Washington state it comes out to be $431 after tax and shipping (Dell Home has a discount on the shipping).

Get the coupons for Dell Home and do this there instead - they don't charge tax in some states, and DSB is required to tax in all states.

Doesn't matter for Home. I tried both and get charged tax in CA + the $8 fee. Someone buy it from a non tax state and ship it to me

When I use your home coupons it comes out to 436.61. Still few dollars more than Office.

I wonder if this means a big discount on the 2405FPW is pending?

Hell, I'll just jump on this one. My CRT is flaking out and I'm having to use my 14.1" laptop in the meantime...

I'm thinking of picking one of these up but wanted to know if the 12ms response time was too high for gaming...

I play World of Warcraft and Half Life 2 and I don't want it to ghost on me.

Also is the 600:1 contrast good? I was looking at a Samsung 19" for $324 at newegg with 700:1 contrast and 8ms response time.

Any advice?

do a search on 2005 and 2405 and I think you will find most people here love them.
I may end up selling my CRT for power consumption reasons. I think it has max 160w compared to 75w for the LCD.
I will have to "get into the zone" and try dual setup first.

PS the code I found only works with Dell small business... I can't find a 35% off for dell home anywhere :-/

It's gonna cost me $450 shipped with tax by going through Dell Small Business. Can anyone tell me how to get it from the Home site?

Id like to get one but if you do search for topics on these you'll find a lot of people get them and the have backlight bleeding issues and/or dead pixels and have to return it a few times just to get one thats acceptable. Hopefully the gateways and benq's dont have this problem.

Also, ive heard there is some slight ghosting. I guess if you have sensitive eyes this might bother you. But most lcd's have this. But usually only really noticable if you scrolling a page with text and the letters are a little blurry. This is one example I read in this forum.

Its a beautiful monitor... the problems were that we were all kinda picky hehe. But I'm sure they probably have it built right by now.

I love mine. Get it!

dell doesnt make its monitors, come from a 3rd party who slaps DELL on it, same with there mobos, cases and printers.

prob with the 24" & 20" is its native res of 1680x1050, if you drop it down to 1024x768, your text gets distorted, 19" has native res of 1280x1024 which is a lot easier on the eyes and dropping it down doesnt distort too much. games dont work too good either at such high resolutions.

wish they had a deal where ya could downgrade to the 19" 905FP instead.

anyone know if these monitors can be rotated 90 degrees and does the stand have height adjustment.

Ordered one. This will finally motivate me to upgrade video cards in my machines. to DVI. Since it looks like the 2005 has only one DVI input, I guess I'll have to invest in a DVI KVM though it almost makes financial sense to get another monitor instead.

Too bad the 2001FP isn't at the same price point. It's a better panel (IMHO) and better bang for the buck.

Then again I wouldn't trade my 2405 for either one
