Sweet roster is set. Good luck to everyone.
More people were interested in playing that didn't get on. If we can get 8, I'll start a second league.
Sure we're not being too aggresive on the rushing yardage points?
I dunno since no points for attempts. To me attempts does not matter on a RB, its total yards and ypc. Yahoo doesn't track ypc and assign points, so I boosted points for yardage.
A receiver, otoh, will get points for receptions and yards. receptions counts because catches = more first downs, whereas the typical RB needs 3 carries to get a first down. But because receivers get points for catches, their pts for yards are lower.
Example:
So for a receiver to average 12.5 ypc, and gets 1600 yards in a season, their pt total will be 1600 / 20 yards-pt. = 80 pts. 1800 / 12.5 ypc (avg) = 128 pts, and 1600 / 50 = 32 pts for bonuses, for a total of
240 pts.
For a RB, 1600 yards gained would equate to 1600 / 8 = 200 points, and 1600 / 40 = 40 pts, for a total of
240 pts.
Since I think that 1600 yards is an equal effect on a team offense whether it is running the rock or throwing it. Yards generally equate to points, or as Bill Parcells' research works out roughly, every 100 yards gained in total offense (including special teams) leads to roughly 7 points, league wide.
Which leads me to returners, who at 1600 yards (think Dante Hall) would equate to 1600 / 15 = 107 return pts, plus (1600 / 100) * 2 = 32 pts, for a total of 139. Now that I think of it, returners need more points per yard to balance out with RBs and WRs.
The main reason I did it this way is because in the past, RB have totally dominated most FF leagues such that if you had the #1 guy, or two guys in the top 5-7, you generally lead your league. OTOH, if you had average RBs, but did well drafting the other positions, you could still end up near the bottom. I like a more balanced league where managers can creatively put together competitive teams by drafting quality at multiple positions.
That being said, I think I may need to increase kickers' points also, because they contribute to points directly on the board which does win and lose games.
So adjustments to K and returner? What's everyone think? Another option is to remove receptions pts. and just go yards.
