15.0@95

if this were a rwd car, that trap would be 14s. FWD sucks.

The RSX is actually being terminated by Acura this year due to the Civic Si being basically superior except for a few luxury features and is a couple thousand less MSRP. Also, my mom just bought a brand new RSX-S so that's out

I had a WRX and it was very nice performance wise...I just wasn't too impressed with the looks and they are quite expensive to maintain. I ditched it after I wrecked it trying to be a rally stud on the snow covered mountains in Colorado (I live in Houston where we don't see snow).

I'm not buying for probably just under or over a year so Civic Si availability shouldn't be a problem.

My wife refuses to get a used car so a used G35, GTO, etc is out. She totally wants an Eclipse and I like their looks but yeah, I heard they are boats on wheels. I have the final say anyway. I may test drive it to give it a fair shake.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Mazdaspeed3. It may be a candidate by the time we're buying. The Mazda3 is still a strong possiblilty. The Scion is too...

Any other ideas?

how was the wrx expensive to keep?

Volkswagen GTI??? The Si is a better value, but the GTI's interior looks better....the truth is, the Civic has better value and is lighter than the GTI: Review Here

You could also get a Mazda 6 for ~22k, but the I'm not sure about reliability, Mazda 3 is good....

but all in all, the Si looks quite good...nice pick

Edit: Ooo....the Dodge Caliber looks quite good too....um....choose your pick???

...you must be estethically challenged, that car is one fugly mofo. It looks like someone shrunk a crossover suv/truck/minivan.

Because you can get the Si for less, which has basically the same engine but handles better and has better standard equipment

Umm, I thought the RSX engine has more horse power, more refine, and more luxury? I thought it is more like "a upper scale" Civic.

<<----- used to drive a coupe Honda.

The RSX-S is rated at 200hp on the old standard, the new Si is rated at 197hp on the new standard - which would be equivelant to roughly 205 if it was rated by the old standard. So basically, the new Si has about 5 more hp then the RSX-S, and perhaps a bit more

I am looking forward to reviews of the new Acura RDX. Acura's new turbo 4 might be one of the best new engines of the year, and I am eager to see what else Acura does with it.

I am hoping this new turbo engine, SH-AWD, and a 6-speed MT find their way into the next-gen TSX.

Read one of the articles any of the major magazines have done on the new Si. Motortrend just did an Si versu GTi comparisson and the Honda spanked the VW. Downright gutted it on the track in every single handingle characteristic, despite having a huge torque disadvantage.

I think its more YOUR bias that has prevented you from even taking notice, the new Si is beyond anything in its price range - and has proven its capable of taking things well out of its price range too (on the track that is). 0-60 times are mid 6's, but quite irrelevant considering it can handle about as well as a Vette even though its FWD. Its a fun car to drive regardless of who you are, don't judge it until you've read something about it or actually driven it

It's a Honda Civic. What the hell do you people expect with this car?

Another person who has no clue what their talking about. What do you expect for $20 thousand dollars? Perhaps a car that will spank anything else in its class, and on the right track, would hold with a cars that have much more power. Thats significant to me, and to absolutely everyone whos driven it. Just pic up any car magazine, everyone is raving about this car and with good reason

7.2 and 1/4 mile in 15.1

I actually really like the new styling. It's a lot better than the competition imo (cobalt? that dodge suv-minvan-truck monstrosity?)

Oh yeah if you want somethign really quick (but again sh!tty interior), check out Neon SRTs

Those are Edmunds.com times, so they obviously have no clue how to drive it. Motortrend, C&D and R&T all got much better times then that. Lowest I think was C&D with 6.8 0-60 and I've read a couple reviews that listed it as 6.6 or so

Calm down Honda boy, I was asking him why the hell would he be complaining about torque on a Civic.

Every Honda I've experienced will easily achieve EPA numbers even if you hammer on it some (WOT runs up the on ramp, etc.) Drive conservatively and you'll easily top EPA numbers.
My gf has an 06 Coupe automatic and with over 1K miles she's only getting 27MPG city driving conservatively with lots of stop & go; roughly 38MPG highway when we were doing slower back roads from 60-70. Then we took a straight highway for 2 hours with LOTS of pedal to the floor acceleration and still got about 38MPG; the base 1.8L engine is so damn slow above 80MPH its not funny.

'06 Coupe != 06 Si

They have completely different engines and the Si only comes with a 6 spd manual gearbox.

The '06 Coupe is rated at 140hp (IIRC) and should get close to 30mpg city. The '06 Si is rated at almost 200hp and advertises 23mpg city. BTW-The Si only takes premium fuel too.

Edmunds has consistently lower numbers. Could it be that a major publication can afford more experienced drivers? Its not just with Honda, its with absolutely every vehicle they drive. They probably hire average drivers

But that was a hybrid, why don't you go to a dealer and ask about an Si then get back to me. Maybe things are different in Cali then the rest of the country but I doubt it. I almost guarentee that there will not be a single dealership in your area with an Si other then the floor model they have for showing off. Their sold before they even get to the dealer, and around here there is about a 3 month wait if you get on the list now
