By refined daily driver, you mean the GTI actually has torque below 15000000RPM, gotchaOriginally posted by: AMDZen
Did you read the motortrend article? I trust their stats, and on the track the Si won. I think thats pretty significant given the torque advantage the GTi had. The LSD and highly tuned suspension on the Honda won out. The Si is more of a drivers car, the GTi may be more of a refined daily driver, but thats not what the Si is supposed to be. And thats not what MotorTrend tested for

What about a Mitsubishi Eclipse? The GT model with a manual tranny can be had for $23,400.

BTW "nothing rattles" is hardly a pro for any cars interior... it's expected that nothing rattles on a new car.
Its not terrible looking, but when it weighs as much as my four door wagon and has 260HP FWD its just a big can of tire spinning sh!t IMO.Originally posted by: Xanis

Oh and it comes with a great stereo system...just needs an aftermarket HU. I just installed an Alpine CDA-9857 along with my old infinity kappa 12" sub and a RF amp in her car and man it sounds nice in there! those are the best sounding stock speakers I've ever heard. Also they engineered the car with aftermarket in mind. That car is a dream to work on. So easy to install stuff in there

I hate the way it looks, but Pontiac G6 coupe? V6, good mileage, coupe, cheap.
512's are good? They're not terribly far ahead of the stockers IMHO.Originally posted by: PaulNEPats
OP,
1. Get the 05/06 Legacy GT Ltd.
2. Ditch the RE92 tires
3. Get good tires (Falken Ziex 512 ftw)
4. Profit $$$$ Cha-Ching!

You left out one important step; Jdm/Cusco rear sway bar.

Hey, didn't you get the memo, that's powerful!
Out of 197 hp...dunno
what are the 0-60 times on this hyped car..
bunch o honda fan boys on here
guess never thought they were that great...styling is always lackluster...drab...
jC
7.2 and 1/4 mile in 15.1
I actually really like the new styling. It's a lot better than the competition imo (cobalt? that dodge suv-minvan-truck monstrosity?)
Oh yeah if you want somethign really quick (but again sh!tty interior), check out Neon SRTs
Those are Edmunds.com times, so they obviously have no clue how to drive it. Motortrend, C&D and R&T all got much better times then that. Lowest I think was C&D with 6.8 0-60 and I've read a couple reviews that listed it as 6.6 or so
Yet C&D gave 1st place to the GTI in their GTI vs Si test. Go figure.Originally posted by: AMDZen

Read one of the articles any of the major magazines have done on the new Si. Motortrend just did an Si versu GTi comparisson and the Honda spanked the VW. Downright gutted it on the track in every single handingle characteristic, despite having a huge torque disadvantage.
I think its more YOUR bias that has prevented you from even taking notice, the new Si is beyond anything in its price range - and has proven its capable of taking things well out of its price range too (on the track that is). 0-60 times are mid 6's, but quite irrelevant considering it can handle about as well as a Vette even though its FWD. Its a fun car to drive regardless of who you are, don't judge it until you've read something about it or actually driven it
I think I'm sold LGT Ltd, despite gas concerns But I also sold myself on paying for it in cash, so gimme another year or twoOriginally posted by: PaulNEPats

i will suggest the new Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V.
it will be based on the new chasis design coming in 07.
07 sentra
nissan hasnt released anything on how it will look but that gives you a rough idea.
most likely they are going to throw in a revamped altima engine motor. at least that is what I have heard.

Wiki says the 06 Civic Si avg's .90G lateral accel. How is that near a Vette?

The engine in the Sentra has always been an Altima motor, designed for premium gas and makes a little more power. IMO, a 160-170HP I-4 that uses Premium just isn't worth it; much like the Civic Si. If you're going premium, make some real fvcking power for god's sake.
That said I don't mind the Sentra much, seriously considered one several years ago. But not premium for a relatively slow four banger, no thanks.
