My roommate received his today and I should receive mine tomorrow.

Came with 64-bit and 32-bit NFR versions. There is a different cd-key on the back of each of the sleeves the DVDs come in. Does that mean both are activatable? (Is that even a word?)

According to the email you should have received on the update on the status of the Vista shipment in the last month or two only one is eligible for activation.

What are your guys' thoughts on 32 and 64 bit versions?

Is 64 even a good choice due to drivers atm? Will I notice a benefit? If so, what programs will benefit from the 64 bit version of vista?

64 bit still has spotty driver support as far as I know. I would verify that your hardware has available drivers before taking the plunge, at the very least I would not activate the 64 bit version until you know everything is good to go. I haven't performed an install of Vista other than beta so I'm assuming you can not activate right away.

If I remember correctly, they also said it would be one disc, and you'd have to choose 32 or 64 at installation time. I don't think these two keys are tied together in any way, so I'd be suprised if you couldn't use them both. I'm not planning on using 64 bit anytime soon, since there are so few apps that take advantage of it.

As others have already seen, this is not in retail packaging - just a pair of sleeves.

I received mine too. Pair of sleeves with different serials, so you could put those onto 2 pc's. Also, it's not OEM, these are NFR full versions. Hooray!

What:
Your bundle shipped with the Release Candidate 1 version of Microsoft* Windows Vista*. We will be shipping the full retail version of Microsoft* Windows Vista* Ultimate to you soon. The final version should ship with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. However, only one activation code will be included. Once activated, the code cannot be used to activate the other version at a later date.

It didn't say there would be only one disc. Also, while both of these sleeves do have separate serial #'s they both came in the same shrink wrapped package that is considered one copy of Vista Ultimate so I think when you activate one of the serials it still invalidates the other one but I could be wrong.

The two discs may be shrinkwrapped together but I'm skeptical that there's any database linking the two keys. I'm betting these discs are just grabbed from two separate bins and shrinkwrapped together by some worker in Indonesia or whatever third world country M$ uses to produce their products.

Has anyone tried installing both versions with the keys given? Just want to see if we can do that given the keys are different. I am still using the 30 days trial to see if I like it before activation.

Do you have to be currently working for a retail store to do this, or just in the past? First time I've ever heard of this.

Currently employed at time of purchase...they verify with the store you work at before they confirm your order. It's a once a year deal. If you start now you will be accumulating points for october 07

You've installed both keys with no problems?
Just want to clarify.

So you also installed the 64 bit version and both are activated at the same time?

Ok while I never did get an official confirmation from anyone on this question, it does appear that both activation codes do work independently. I didn't think they would, but someone I know here successfully activated both copies (or so he says) so it appears to be a go.
