You do know this car is being changed big time for 2008? I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of the reason for the good deal. A few years ago we got a new 2004 Malibu Maxx LT and we still love it. The Maxx is going away. It is the most practical car we've ever had. We do not miss our lower-mileage SUV because we have the Maxx. I wonder why they're dumping it...

Eh, I'm sure this is an error, but I'm not sure in what sense

1) It's Saturn, not Subaru
2) Having a V6 and AWD doesn't put this in the same class as a WRX
3) It's an SUV

I was going to suggest checking out Saab since they used to offer what people called the "Saabaru" since it used the same drivetrain and engine a WRX did, but I don't see it on their site anymore. The 9.3 2.0T doesn't have the same specs. You won't find 0% on a WRX for a few more months until the 2008's start showing up and they're looking to clear out the 07's. I got 1.9% on my 04 WRX purchasing it a month before the release of the 05's.

All I can say is American car companies seem to be having a hell of a time. My parents bought a brand new Mercury Mariner for 0% for 6 years in September. These companies are practically giving away vehicles.

rriiigghht...
LOL you took my post all wrong, I was just saying if Saturn had this 0.0, maybe Subaru did too...rofl, a wrx ='ing a Saturn

You mean a Subaru? Subaru is not a General Motors vehicle so it doesn't apply. There are currently no zero percent offers on WRXs that I could see on SUbaru's website, but there are regional deals that do pop up from time to time.

Well I called the dealership, 3.9% was the best they had...but it's way better than 8%.

I stepped on the 0% deal last july like someone did on the first page. I got an 06 FWD V6 vue for 6 years at 0%. I put a couple paychecks for the down and my monthlys are $250. Insurance wise this was a big step up from my '94 sentra that bit the bucket at 243k miles and had min coverage.

As for what led me to the vue over others in its class. The honda engine, the polymer panels (rust is a given in NY), the best customer service that I received from any surrounding dealership, and good reviews of the 06 model. I heard a ton of crappy reviews for the 03 and 04 models in the saturn forum which was posted above but the 06s seem to have that beat. I have no issues so far but only 9k miles. One thing that I have seen is some unhappy customers that bought the AWD and something related to that system breaking down.

The for 2008 all saturns will have metal panels and the polymer is gone, and they are moving to their standard V6 GM engine so the honda one is gone. They also redisigned the whole vehicle for 08 and pics can be seen at edmonds. I hope I helped some of you people.

Yeah, I know the 08 Malibu will be all new - same as Saturn Aura. I think on 08 with the 173 Ecotech 4cyl will be very nice, but conditions happened > Daughter's boyfriend totals out her truck > needs another vehicle > after ins payoff has $4000 to spend > I sell her my 05 Malibu LS with V6 for what I owe > me gets new 07 LT!

My 05 LS has 49000 pretty trouble-free miles. Comfortable, good handling/ride balance, roomy, etc. For the price it's a very good deal if you get it with incentives. I drive 80+ miles daily commuting to/from work. The 05 with 3.5L V6 gets fantastic MPG - I average 33-35 mpg weekly. Interstate driving while nudge up to 36-38. The 16 gal tank lets me drive ~430 miles with more than 1/4 tank left - good for another 125 miles!

OP should change topic to MANY GM vehicles have 0% for a short time!

Okay, but only because the whips and chains are out on loan to the mods.

Thanks for the heads-up on the 0% financing.

That's what I was thinking when I saw the subtitle of this thread...wow, have we gotten that bad in here? This may not be my deal of the day, but hey, thanks for bringing it to our attention. No hurting here.

i was actually thinking "first HD thread in 42,000+ posts?" FoBoT must really think this is a good deal

Wow! they had the 0% for 6 years? That would definitely make things easier.

Back to the thread... This does appear to be a pretty decent vehicle. I was not aware that it had a Honda engine/transmission. This certainly makes it more favorable. The MPG numbers look pretty good for a 3.5l V-6 too.

I dont know if they still make them, but the Saab 92x, which is a GM vehichal, was a rebadged WRX wagon. A couple of years ago during the employee cost sales, people were getting them for about 17k.

something that will lose 70% of it's value in 5 years isn't a hot deal.

The 9-2x is no longer being made. I came very close to getting in on that deal over a year ago. People were selling their Saabarus a year later for $1000 - $2000 more than they paid for them.

60 months is five years, not six years

we picked up the car on Friday
my wife likes it and is happy

the transmission in her old van went crazy on saturday, started dropping out of gear and making a funny noise, so the timing on this was good for us

We looked hard at the Saturn Vue, and ended up buying the Hyundai Tuscon (AWD, V6, decked out.) I am happy with our choice, though I think the Vue is a good vehicle.

Their "no haggle" policy is fine, but it also means that there's no room for negotiating on their trade-in offer as well. Saturn offered us by far the least amount for our trade in. It was a deal killer for us.

That's interesting to know that your Saturn dealer did not budge on the trade-in. I wonder if that's true for ALL Saturn dealers or just that one.

BTW, it's "Tucson." I test drove one when it came out, and was also very interested in its corporate cousin, the Kia Sportage, but ended up buying a Tribute.

Yeah, I was interested in this deal - have a 2005 Santa Fe that has been great, but interested in that Hinda engine and dent resistant panels. Also the rear seats folding flat is great option.

But seeing the tradein value of my car makes it a deal-killer. We are very much 'run the car into the ground' people and were only considering this if we could get same payment. Great deal for new buyer, but the Santa Fe has been good to us.

The no-haggle price works both ways. Good because you don't have to dicker for price and all Saturn dealers will have same price on same vehicle. Bad because you can't negotiate a better price - you're stuck. Our 06 V6 Vue, comparably equipped, priced about the same as a Chevy Equinox. But with Chevy you can expect to knock off several hundred or more off sticker. Of course, you get the Honda motor in the Vue.

The Saturn dealer in Lafayette Louisiana gave us more for our trade than I thought I would get. When trading, I visit all the sites to get the average trade-in values. Then I visit dealers and the first one to match or exceed what I want for my trade gets the business. Saturn gave us $2000 more than I thought I could get on our 2004 Chevy Trailblazer LT, so BOOM we bought! Selling price was right - they had to go 50 miles to another dealer to get the one the wife wanted - no extra charge to pickup (most dealers will gig you for $100-200 for this unless you're a valued customer).

One thing I've noticed - Saturn dealers like to "stick you" with extra costs. Like $$$$ for paint sealant, fabric protection, tire warranty, window etching, ect. If you didn't know dealers LOVE these "packs" because it's 99% PROFIT! Costs is close to $100 for all that. I refuse to be forced to buy these packs, and I've walked away from deals because of it. Once you tell them you know all about them they will drastically discount or remove the packs off the price. If they don't - walk away. My Saturn dealer took the price right off, even though the other dealer put it on!

The Vue has it's faults. In some ways it is very modern - in others it's old school. It has all the modern safety features, BUT YOU CANNOT TURN OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOORS! Overall though, the powertrain makes up for the few negatives.

I think they tend to be MORE flexible with trade in's, because they know they can't change the sticker price of the new car.

Is this a misprint? Did you mean $100?

I don't walk away from deals over $100. My time is worth more than that.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to dealer cost.
The actual price the consumer gets charged on these things varies, but down here in South FL, it can be ~$800 - $1K for these "packages"...total ripoff.

Oh, I misread it.

I can't imagine Saturn agreeing to take those off. Defeats the whole concept of a "no haggle" price, doesn't it?
