what was the deal with them?

Jordan's had a promotion back in March that whatever you bought from them in like a 2-3 week period would be free if the Red Sox won the World Series.

Luckily, they took out an insurance policy b/c something like 30,000 people bought $20mil in furniture.

Great marekting idea, good luck getting an insurance policy next year though lol.

IMO the 8 day layoff played a big role, that's way too long for any team to sit and wait. Baseball still needs revenue sharing.

So much for the ratings theory:

http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10439523

The four games averaged a 10.6 rating, the second-lowest ever, ahead of only the 10.1 in 2006 for the St. Louis Cardinals' five-game win over the Detroit Tigers.

Congrats to the Red Sox....

The games starting at 8:30 EST didn't help.

I just got back from the rally and it was awesome. I got some great vids and pics (will upload later). Papelbon and the dropkick Murphys were awesome. I kinda felt bad for papelbon though everyone making him do that dance all the time now. It's like the simpsons "the i didn't do it kid" episode.

definitly did not, and FOX IMO just sucks, too many lame comercials pregame to many bad interviewers after the games

they should start the pregame BS at 7PM EST so the game can start round 7:30, and posibily be over before 1AM

The ratings gripe was about needing big market teams, otherwise they would suck. The largest national draw as a franchise was playing, and still piss poor ratings. I think as a whole our society is drifting away from baseball. Maybe all the neg pub over HGH has had an effect, but I think it runs deeper. Game is too slow for todays generation, and getting worse.

Football is America's Sport by far these days. Personally, it's hard to go from a fast-paced, action-packed game like football to a slow, methodical showing as is often the case with Baseball. I still love the Red Sox, and baseball once was my favorite sport to watch, but football has taken over by a large margin.

look at who was in the plays offs from the NL, only the cubs were a "big market team" from the AL, boston is about as big market as it gets, and NY is there alot as well,

its juts not as popular as it used to be

and both SNF and MNF suffer the same fate as baseball games with starting way to fing late

and Paul as much as i like football, any games that stop every 20 seconds for a few min is far from "fast paced"

football is the most herky jerky sport there is

Just wait until the Pats finally start sucking again and maybe you'll watch more baseball.

I barely watched the WS this year. I only really watch baseball if my team is playing. With football it's different, I can watch any football game at any skill level. I can get into a HS football game.

yep, game is too slow. the season too long. the broadcasts, especially during the playoffs, are just brutal, completely overdone. i can't stand to watch it anymore. i'll flip back and forth but there's no appeal to me. i'll watch my son's LL games but thats it for me now.

Congrats on buying the world series, boston!

Please tell me you're a Yankees fan. That would cause the irony level to reach a toxic point.

it is sarcasm i am guessing. Yankees fans when they were doing well heard this sentiment time and time again. There lackluster post season performance in the last couple years should settle once and for all that payroll != performance.

Yes but the difference was the Yankees actually WERE buying the World Series time and time again.

I don't agree at all. I'm not a Yankees fan at all, but the Yankees who won in the late 1990s were a well-built team. True, they acquired a few key free agents, but their "purchasing" really only began in '00 / '01... exactly when the winning stopped.

Well that idiot waving his Rockies white hankie frantically whenever the Red Sock's pitched, and the idiot in the Barney mascot outfit doing his flip-around head mojo................. Can wipe their tears with all the left behind peanut shells **LOL**

Do any of you know the guy I mean? It was at Boston and the guy right behind the catcher to the left would wave his damn hankie, whenever Boston was pitching, to try and throw him off.
