I'm thinking of picking one of these up. I had been looking at the IS300 for a while but its just too expensive to repair/insure/fuel for what you get.

Now i'm looking at the newest accord coupe. It looks pretty hot IMO. Anyone got one yet or got good feedback on them?

I'm currently driving a 96 Integra 5sp that i totally love. But with 155k miles of punishment (last year of HS and all through college) under her belt, i'd like to get new wheels.

Thanks for the input. Oh, and i'm not looking for links to the reviews, i've seen them. I'm wanting input from owners or others that are interested in the car or cars similar to it.

I am looking at the Accord Sedans. I test drove one a few weeks back and it was excellent. Bluetooth and Nav were very slick and the ride impressive. The only thing that I wish it had was 5.1 capabilities but I guess I can't complain.

I test drove the 190hp coupe, it was as fast as my integra which says a lot since its an Auto and so much bigger... I'm looking for the V6 to try. What'd you think of the road noise? i was impressed.

Yes, we barreled down the interstate at 80 and we were talking at normal levels. Very smooth and quiet. I also test drove the 190hp 4 banger and it was surprisingly solid. I had driven the same route in my IS300 before I test drove the Accord Sedan and it didn't handle or go as fast, but it was comfy! Something very important to the arse in long driving outings.

The new accord gives you A LOT for your money.

It's a very big sedan, bigger than the Camry IIRC.

Styling has also improved.

I test drove an 08 Accord Sedan V6 w/ Navi yesterday. I love it. The ride is so smooth coming from an ML430 and it handles nicely enough too. I'm gonna think about it for a little bit longer but I may just put a deposit on one this weekend.
I was also pleased with the acceleration and passing power.

I drove the 190hp 4 banger as well and was very surprised. Unless you are really opening up the throttle... the power is definitely there. I would even go as far as to say it drives like a quieter version of a 6 cylinder of just a redesign or two ago. Blind spot was none too pleasing though... but then again I'm used to SUVs and trucks.

I have a feeling that these vehicles aren't selling that well. I have yet to see a single one on the road here in the SF Bay Area or in Sacramento. Two local dealers in my area are already selling these vehicles at invoice, and one person was able to purchase one for 500 below invoice last week. This is the sedan though, not the coupe.

A bit off-topic, but the Camry V6 would be the perfect vehicle for me if it didn't have the transmission flare problem. The 3.5L V6 engine feels much stronger (confirmed by 0-60 and 1/4 mile times) and has a timing chain, versus the belt for the Honda V6.

Just wanted to add, if anyone does purchase an Accord, look into purchasing the Honda care FACTORY extended warranty policy. You can purchase one from an online Honda dealership for about $900 (substantially less than what the dealership wants to charge you) and provides coverage for up to eight years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first.

I've seen a few new Accord sedans around town now. Looks like a slightly larger Hyundai Sonota, change the logos and it would be tough to tell the difference.

I haven't seen any coupes yet though. They look better than the sedan.

Why would anyone buy an extended warranty on a Honda when they never have problems?

I've seen a lot of them on the road here in SC.

So i just noticed the altima coupe.... thats kinda hot too.... anyone have some input on why the Accord would be worth the $3-4k premium over the altima? I'm not a fan leather, so thats not a selling point

The Altima has the Jatco CVT transmission. It was far from bulletproof in the Murano. I'd be very hesitant to buy the Altima if I was planning to keep it for more than 100k miles.

I haven't seen one in the Bay Area either.. maybe I'll go in for a test drive this weekend. My 03 Accord is getting old.

I've seen a dozen or so on the road already. But car sales in general are hurting right now.

The Murano was pushing the limits of that CVT, right at the max rated torque. The problems were the belt, and it would detonate immediately if there was a manufacturing fault. It should be just fine in a 4 cyl, and the bugs should have been worked out by now. Having said that, I love my 5 speed altima, but would not reccomend it. Every time I took it to the dealer they wanted money, first check at 20000 km they told me the rotors needed turning for $400, I informed them for $400 I could replace the rotors with crossdrilled slotted rotors that would last forever, at 40000 km they wanted $200 for a fuel purge. In all for the first year on a brand new car the thieves wanted over $1000 in trumped up charges. Go with the Honda.

I like my Altima Coupe, and I like the Nissan dealership I bought it from. lurk3r, your experience at the dealership is indicative of that dealership, not Nissan in general. Recommending he buy a Honda because of the dealership you took your car to doesn't make sense.

Thanks. Where did you learn about this information?

It's interesting that Dodge puts a similar Jatco CVT in their Caliber, but are willing to put a lifetime warranty on the unit as well.

Do you think the CVT in the 07+ Altima is able to handle the new V6?

i absolutely hate the look of the new sedans, but the coupe is passable. the main selling point for it would be that sick 190hp 4 banger! the v6 is probably great too

i still prefer the styling of my 07 accord coupe, but if you like the looks of the new coupe go for it !

Personally the new accord coupe looks much better than the altima coupe. My friend has a white 08 altima coupe 4banger with 175hp and it is one hell of a car, although he does complain about the push start button.
