The EPA site is also not accurate with their measurements. If you look at the same car over a couple years, the numbers vary by 6-8ft3. The 2010 CTS shows 116cf3, but whatever Mjizz shows is 110ft3. I would question using that site to make any point.

No, actually each year, the car makers make adjustments to their interior to provide for additional volume. 6 cubic feet sounds like a lot of change, but it can be gained from redesign seating, entertainment systems being hidden, center consoles slimming etc etc.

The OP was asking about a 2008, which is the only one I'm familiar with. I have not sat in 2009s or 2010s, I assumed they were the same but it appears Cadillac made some positive changes.

But is it one of the best vehicles you've bought period? Qualifying it as one of the best GM vehicles doesn't mean a lot to a lot of GM haters

I've only ever bought GM vehicles new, so I can't compare the CTS to anything other than GM vehicles.

'71 VW Beetle (high school car bought used)
'81 Chevy Pickup new, 168,000 miles, then sold
'84 Camaro Berlinetta new, 212,000 miles, then sold
'91 Geo Storm GSI new (really an Isuzu Imark), too small for long drives, sold after 2 years,
'93 Buick Regal Gran Sport sedan new, 160,000 miles, sold in 2009
'96 Pontiac Sunfire new (stolen in '98, never recovered)
'98 Chevy S-10 pickup new, sold in 2003 to buy the Trailblazer
'68 VW Beetle, hobby car.
'03 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT v8 new, still own
'63 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible, hobby car / daily driver
'09 Cadillac CTS new

Update to the thread. Went to buy the Caddy, and I noticed it did not come with bluetooth. Which I thought was a major fail to me. I was thinking a 30k car should come standard with that at least. Plus I use bluetooth a ton given my job. So I had to turn it down. Now I am off the caddy and accord.

I was thinking about putting myself into a used Acura TL 2004-2008. You guys have opinions on those? I know Acura is not on top of anyones stunner list. But I think you get a lot for your money.

The TL (previous generation) is a very nice car, and I think it is very good looking.
May I suggest a new Lacrosse, or even better, a new Regal? They should fit the < $30k nicely.

LOL how many cars have you driven?

I've test driven the CTS - it's a fucking coffin inside.

I've test driven the Accord - it's a boat.

Now get the fuck out please.

PS - EPA classifies one as Large and one as midsize, but the CTS is like 2 cubic feet away from a compact. INSIDE, it's a FUCKING compact. :awe:

How about you get the f out. I've test driven several CTS's and almost bought one, except you can't find them with a manual unless you're going CTS-V which is outside my price range.

The Accord is boring and a joke. If you want a fun car to drive, get the CTS. You'll be sooo much happier with it over an Accord.

Wh ynot a ford Fusion with Sync?

The sync is a great and I wish it were on other vehicles. To me the sync is revolutionary. I am somewhat surprised other car makers are not jumping all over the system. I had a Ford in college and it was truly Fix Or Repair Daily and I told myself I would never buy another ford car again.

I have heard very positive things about ford quality lately, but I know everytime I would step into that car it would remind me of the pos I had in college.

You gave up a car because it didn't have bluetooth?

Lol.

That's my thinking, it's not like it's difficult to make phone calls/etc without your car being involved in the bluetooth. However, it's his $ and prerogative.

The '04-'08 TL is a great car. It's not going to be as visceral or fun as the RWD CTS, but should be fine anyway. The audio system is outstanding. Does require premium fuel, and you'll notice it's a little smaller than the CTS, and notably smaller than the Accord. For someone not using the backseat all that much it's more than large enough for tall adults up front though. Biggest negative my brother has noted is that it eats rather expensive tires pretty quick up front if you drive even moderately aggressively.

I am surprised about the tires. Thanks for the info. I did not find it that much smaller than the accord I thought it had plenty of room in the back. I am 5'11 and I had plenty of room. Although I can see someone like my dad at 6'3 not being able to fit.

I know some people don't care about bluetooth but it is important for me since I will be on the highway alot in south florida. i95 is one of most dangerous strips of road in the country in my area. I was considering getting after market bluetooth in the caddy, but my girlfriend spent the 400-500 to have a system in her lexus and it performs horribly.

Hm I'm surprised I missed this thread.

I've got a 2008 Accord EXL V6 sedan. I really like it but it isn't that quiet on the interstate. I got quieter tires and that helped a lot but it's still not very well insulated. So the CTS would probably be a much more comfortable highway cruiser.
One of the things I love about my car though is the visibility.

I see you're interested in the TL.. sadly the TL isn't much quieter and the ride is definitely firmer. The TL was one of the cars I was considering when I got my Accord and really it didn't offer enough to spend another $8k on. TL also gets worse fuel economy and uses premium. Also more to insure. Not that the TL is a bad car at all, but really you have to consider what is more important to you.

Also what Accord are you actually looking at? EXL is just the trim. EXL could be V6 or I4, coupe or sedan.

I was looking at the i4 sedan in the accord. The TL I am looking at is used and believe it or not the pices are quite similar. I do agree with you though about 8k difference not being worth it. Now it is a 2k maybe 3k difference.

I think a mustang with sync is the next choice.

If I could get the 30mpg 305hp mustang for a resonable price, I would be seriously considering it. My friends who have tried to buy them said they are priced high right now. I am huge mustang fan as I had a 66' that I really loved that I had to sell last year.

Whatever you do, do not get the I4. It's weak and noisy and in many cases it actually gets worse MPG than the V6.

glad you repsonded to this thread "mb" I will def stay away from that i4. It constantly had to rev high to accelerate, which would probaly mean less gas mileage. I should have taken the epa stickers a little less serious.

Well as someone with a Mustang with Sync it's pretty cool. Though 9 times out of 10 I forget to activate Bluetooth on my phone.
But I can use Sync to play music on my usb drive without having to manipulate controls ect.

If you need 4 doors, I highly suggest you get over your old perception of Ford and give them another look. I've never really been a Ford guy, I've always had Trans Ams and Silverados, but when I looked at the current pony cars, the Ford was leaps and bounds above the new Camaro.
I really liked the CTSs I looked at, but as I mentioned, I couldn't get it with a stick, so I went with a 2-door pony car.

The nice thing about the V6 is you have the power when you need it, and on the highway it can run on only 3 or 4 cylinders when you are cruising. In warmer weather I consistently get 27MPG average on entire tanks of gas. Now if your commute is mostly stop and go, the V6 won't make as much sense.

I wouldn't consider a car without it now, its just too useful of a feature not to have in CA because of the cellphone laws.

I'd keep looking. I'm not sure if it is standard or an option, but our 2009 CTS came with blue tooth.
