Its over...lol... the power of the internet...

I talked to my friend, the salesman... He said that they had sold over 70 trucks, vans, and SUV's over the past 2 days since they had that sale... he said that they had a few leftover, maybe 7 trucks in all (Titan, Frontier, etc)... and a couple of the SUV's.

He said that he had received like 57 phone calls from all over the US yesterday, and like 30-40 today in the AM...

I remember when a local Nissan dealer offered a free truck if you bought a 300ZX. That was like the last model year of 300ZX. All Japanese manufacturers had hard time selling $40K sports cars (RX-7, 300ZX, 3000GT). There was little demand for that kind of cars at that price in the '90s.

Makes sense. They lose money on it every day it sits on the lot. Can't they just send the cars back to the manufacturer though ?
If the dealer can't sell it are they stuck with it ?

Yes, because the dealers buy it from the auto makers.

Dealerships are getting substantial incentives from the factory to move these

Nissan used to allocate hot selling models based on the number of slow selling models you moved. No idea if thats still how its done.

Geez, nobody pointed out the obvious "up to" before the "40% off"...but yeah, some good prices but don't forget it's a car dealer so 1) you don't reallllly know what you are getting until you are there and actually get it and 2) YMMV...only because -for once- this applies literally

When I bought my '05 Frontier LE the sticker price was $26,400. I got it for $1000 under invoice which I believe was around $23,000. That was 3 years ago when gas prices were $2.12 gallon.

Gas here is now $3.89 but has been as high as $4.09. My city average is 17.5mpg and with a 21 gallon tank it's not cheap to fill up. About $75. I love the truck to death and it's been great. Perfect for what I need it for. But with current gas prices it is a little impractical. Lucky I live about 2 miles from work and my wife has a '07 Civic that we drive whenever we go somewhere together.

I'm just glad I didn't buy a dodge that gets 11-12mpg.

A little impractical? Assuming you ONLY drive your truck to/from work you should last two months on a single tank of gas. Even if you do grocery shopping once a week you should still last a month on a full tank.

That's how I read it too originally. But I think he is saying it is impractical for LONGER trips. I can't imagine anyone driving 2 miles to work complaining about gas prices even if it hits $10/gallon.

cyberia is correct. I put about 12k on my truck each year. What I meant by the 2 miles statement was that I'm lucky I wasn't commuting 40 miles/day or other wise I've be putting about 20k-25k on my truck each year. It's pretty much my everyday driver. I take it fishing, I haul my boat, pick up groceries, go camping, run to home depot, etc. If I was only driving it to work and back I'd put less than 1k on it each year But a fella get to go when he needs to go. If it wasn't for having to haul a boat and having a side job in construction I could get away without a truck.

If you have a boat that needs a truck to haul then you shouldn't really complain at all... A boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into. I learned that 20 years ago when a friend of mine filled up his boat for $400. Let's not even talk about slip/dock/berth fees.

My commute is only 16 miles each way @ $9.42 per gallon, but this week it's dropped to $9.17 - that's in Holland by the way

It's below $10 a gallon but I'm still not happy!!!

See the bold. Is that someone "driving 2 miles to work"?

My round trip commute is around 6 miles. After college and finding an awesome career, I bought a house very close to my home office. If I drive anywhere, it is in my company vehicle. I sold my 350z Nismo :brokenheart: for an 08 Altima - they just cannot be beaten for reliability and price. I also have a 2003 Altima (company vehicle) that has 256k miles on it and has never needed more than an oil change or alignment.

I'd have easily purchased the Pathfinder on there. We leased our Pathfinder a year ago and have been very happy with it. Even driving 12 miles to work it's been pretty decent at 20+mpg. Note that I went from a 1999 Durango 5.9liter V8 that got about 14mpg highway. Nice vehicle but horrible gas mileage. Of course I'd have kept it if we could have gotten it fixed (kept stalling randomly and no one could figure out the problem).
