i could ask my uncle who is a designer for GM.

i was pretty sure all GM did with the RWD platforms was put them on hold for a few years.

GM should change their mission statement to "A day late and a dollar short."

Dude, that IS the new Camaro. Why the hell do you think GM is so fvcking pissed right now?

As for the person asking why half of the car is one way and half is another way, it's a clay mockup. Car manufacturers routinely do that to show what small changes can do to a design without building two seperate clay models.

More than likely GM is pissed because then people will wonder where the vaporcar is in a few years when it doesn't materialize.

Don't worry it will be back to kick the Mustangs butt in performance again.

Maybe... it is retro to an extent but with a modern twist. The point may well be to just hint at retro but be new otherwise.

Well it's official, American engineers design the ugliest cars on the planet. I thought Korean cars were ugly but wow this stuff really blows. Hopefully GM goes out of business before this garbage is put on the road.

Your personal taste, apparently there are those who don't agree. Is your idea of a good looking car the Honda Element or their new truck? To me those are rather ugly. The element is just a box on wheels, and the truck (I forget what it is called) looks overweight or something, way too much molding and trim.

All personal preference.

As long as they don't get away too much from the concept I think it'll be right on par for what's coming up, compare with the new Challenger which comes out at around the same time. It looks far better.

how are they a day late? they will be releasing it with the challenger...

im assuming the mustang will be being redesigned, or face lifted for that year as well.

you know how the original muscle cars were released??

o yea, mustang, then challenger, then camaro.

the camaro made it longer than the challenger, GM just didnt like the niche it had, as well as the TA and Camaro stole sales from each other.

Did you read anything I wrote? I said that these concept drawings have been floating around for a few years now. You don't usually release concept drawings and then build the car 10 years later. How long did it take Ford to go from concept to production with the new Mustang a couple years, at most? That car is a huge success. You can always tell a success by the rebates offered. To date they haven't offered any rebates on the new Mustang. Not the GT anyway.

Great looking car, but it'll be far too late to save GM. That thing needs to come out pronto.

I doubt they excpect the Camaro to save GM, they're just bringing back a car that should have never left

IRS for the win.

Any of you who still want to see a solid rear 'live' axle should just end yourselves now, as you must be roughly 85 years old already.

OMG all the naysayers crack me up. If there was an "H" on the front of the car they'd be dancing in the streets.

I like what I'm seeing so far. But the final result could be another matter.

The 3-link rear in the current Mustang ain't your daddy's live axle. GM's still using pushrods in the LS2 - I don't hear anyone bitchin' about that. The Corvette still uses leaf springs as a suspension component and it's doing fine. Just because something is old doesn't mean it doesn't still work well

FYI - The Live axle is doing fine in the Grand-AM Cup racing - no worries here. But I sincerely hope that Ford offers IRS and live-axle as an option in the GT model when the new Mustang debuts in 2010. I really want to see something bigger under the hood than the current 4.6L to counter whatever LS derivative GM uses...maybe a modified variant of the modular Triton 5.4L 3V in the current F-150.

The muscle car wars are back! I like it and would get one if the production model looks close to that.

You're confusing the orange rendered car with the pics at the top of this thread. The rendering was made years ago. The new pictures are that of a clay mockup for the concept that were leaked just a few days ago. Domestic FTW!
