The game always seems to be competetive until the NL sends out a pitcher who happens to have all-star numbers that season but not all star talent, and the dude promptly gives runs to lose it.

The AL, on the other hand, only has all-star talent on their pitching staff, so that scenario never plays out for them.

Maybe I don't watch the game often enough.
