can someone who is a Lakers fan please explain something to me ...

why the hell do your fans chant "MVP MVP MVP" when Kobe has the ball?

did they miss the memo that Lebron won the MVP this year?

You dont watch much basketball do you? Ive heard the MVP chants for a million players over the years. Us Suns fans did it for Steve Nash a couple times this last year. Nuggets fans sometimes do it for Billups or Melo. Its just a way of showing your best player that you respect what they do.

Whatta play by Billups, off of Kobe's back!

That was great

Awesome play by Billups, bonehead move by Kobe.

And great calling by Mike Breen. He's quick and energetic in a play like that, which is a good example why I think he's the best play-by-play caller right now.

i don't watch the NBA very much until the playoffs, and i have never heard an MVP chant for a player who was not the MVP that year other than at Lakers home games.

Yeah, it's one of those annoying things that many crowds do for their team's best player. Last year, the Celtics crowd was chanting MVP for both KG and Paul Pierce.

Kobe really needs to talk to his team to get them to step up more. Kobe has had 2 good games but everyone else is not having great games. Gasol still plays waaaaay too soft. He is a good player and has the skills but never has that intensity so he never gets and better. Bynum well he's Bynum. He's still young and needs a lot of training still. I wonder if he'll ever be 100% after those injuries. No one on the Lakers is consistient enough. I still do think the Lakers will win the series but damn they really need a sense of urgency.

Gasol put up 17/17. He's a good player, seems intense enough, but just not especially physical - the Lakers knew this going in. He's not "soft" - he has 11 offensive rebounds in 2 games. That's very good.

Ariza had 20 pts. About double what you'd expect from him.

Bynum's still recovering from injury.

Fisher's been disappointing. He's hit so many big shots over the course of his career, but maybe Father Time's caught up with him.

Odom went for 10/9, you'd like him to score more points. But he's looking pretty beat-up.

Overall, Kobe doesn't have much to complain about in game 2. He scored 32, the rest of his team scored 71. That's a pretty good ratio for superstar vs the rest of his team. Jordan had lots of games where the Bulls scored between 80-90 and he pumped in 30-45.

The first game, Kobe's supporting cast wasn't too good, although Fish hit a couple of big shots. But Kobe had a little more help in that game than Melo did.

Kobe played soft versus the Celtics in the Finals last year.

I wonder how the ref with #49 on his jersey didn't see williams throw the ball at howard from his peripheral vision. that should have been an easy technical to call.
