I'm curious as to the rationale for renewing and then canceling before you even air the first renewed episode...

After finally seeing the final episode, I'm extremely pissed it was cancelled. This is why I don't watch TV during the regular season, and download to watch all at once later on.

Forget entertainment, you get Leno every night.

ouch

The program has the format of a variety show, a creature that was virtually extinct decades ago, even before cable and the Internet. And there?s a halting, clanking quality to it so far; if the show had an intermission, you might exchange a look with your date that said, ?Should we leave? Do you want to leave? Let?s leave.?

What I don't get about the whole Leno show is that it was way better when it was on at the later slot, I don't know what the reason is but it seems odd that it's all the same people (on screen at least) yet something seems off and lost.

Maybe the writers didn't come with him?

good enough ratings and minimal $$$$$$$$$$$ to fill an hour. kinda like hanging around with your friends while wearing sweats cause you know bambi is still gonna be there when ya get home.

Pretty pissed that Southland was canceled. I thought it was actually a pretty decent show.

Meanwhile, no less than 3 incarnations of L&O still exist in NBC's lineup.

That really sucks. Southland was one of the few 'new' shows I was really looking forward to coming back.

Yeah, I heard good things about Southland, but I don't get into dramas like that until I know they will last more than one season. Of course, if enough people do that then shows will never last more than one season and they'll keep doing the Leno show crap. I watched Kings to support their efforts of making a very unique show, but of course they had the axe ready to drop by the second episode. There would have been at least four seasons of Kings if it were on HBO or Showtime.

RIP Dollhouse, cancellation announced today.

but in happier news, Southland was picked up by TBS.

couldn't have happened to a better network, dirtbags.

on related news, along with eastwick getting axed, hank just joined it as outgoing except they aren't even going to air any more hank eps. For those following for eureka, except for the one chick having a couple spots in criminal minds all the eureka actors have had their shows canceled

WTF why is dollhouse getting canceled? They knew it had bad numbers from season 1 but now it's storyline is kicking ass and they axe it? Honestly, what do you expect with a 9PM Friday night timeslot when you allegedly don't know how to count DVR & Internet viewers. I pray that a reasonable network picks it up.

I'm absolutely shocked that Heroes outlasted Dollhouse.

http://xkcd.com/581/ seems appropriate.

I never followed the show but am so f'ing sick of shows getting canned so quickly.

Either commit the resources to make a show great and give it time to improve or don't even bother.

I don't even try new shows anymore, just got tired of starting to like a show just to have it killed off.

I tend to go back and watch shows that have been on a few seasons instead.

Actually after an absolutely awful first epi, Hank got a lot better.
Oh, well. Good for Eureka. Which chick is on criminal minds?

As for Leno, he is single handedly killing NBC. His low ratings are killing the local news that follows. Then those low ratings are killing Conan who just gave up his lead to Letterman.
The Tonight Show was always a huge moneymaker for NBC. If Conan goes to a permanent second, well, can you say "Comcast-NBC?

And also, NBC runs reruns of its weekly programs on Saturday night (though I think the other networks do as well). And footbal is on Sunday night on NBC.

So NBC really only has 8-10 Mon-Fri available. A whole 10 hours of programming from the network that gave us Hill St. Blues, ER, St. Elsewhere.
And out of the 10 you have the Biggest Loser and Dateline NBC. So its really only 8 hours of scripted tv per week.

RIP Dollhouse, cancellation announced today.

while that's annoying I have to say the build up to and end of S1 was really good, but S2 has just been crappy so far and the S2 story arc hasn't compelled me at all. Not as crappy as Heroes has been since season 2 i guess, but then Dollhouse didn't have a monstrously successful first season fanbase to milk dry.

Anyway, at least Trauma is gone making room for something else. Watched the first 3 eps and found it awful.

Thank god for Glee.
