hugh laurie has 1 year left on his contract, everyone else just got 1 year extensions. They'll be wrapping up the series next season.

Kind of happy. It's still good, so it won't turn into 5 cast changes, and a barely recognizable cash cow.

don't forget, house is not made by fox. there was considerable talk about whether it would move networks for next year but because of the year left on contracts they didn't have enough freedom to shop it. may well be the last year on fox for the show, but seriously doubt it the last year of the show.

and speaking of house:

House fandom, brace for impact: Dr. Cuddy is checking out.
Lisa Edelstein — whose long-term contract expires this month — has opted not to return for the show’s eighth and likely final season.

In a statement, the actress says, “After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead.”

Fox and NBC Universal declined to comment.

Back in March — when the future of House itself was up in the air — Edelstein told TVLine, “Nobody at work seems to think it won’t [return]. Everybody wants to come to a deal, and I certainly am looking forward to a Season 8.”

In an interview last week with BlogCritics.org, exec producer Katie Jacobs said she would “not rest” until Edelstein was on board for an eighth season. “Lisa is such a valuable member [of the cast],” she said. “I challenge any other actress on TV to do what she does seemingly effortlessly. She goes between drama, comedy, intelligence, sex appeal… It’s certainly not my plan or David’s plan or the creative team’s plan to not have Lisa in the show.”

There’s talk Edelstein was a victim of belt-tightening at the show. In the aforementioned interview, Jacobs acknowledged that, “For seven seasons we managed to avoid getting the phone call to make cuts in our budget. But now we’re getting that call.” Perhaps she rejected a low-ball offer — hence her disappointment?

Earlier this month, Edelstein’s costars Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps inked new deals to return to the show. Hugh Laurie, Olivia Wilde and Peter Jacobson were already contracted for the recrently-greenlit Season 8, leaving Jesse Spencer as the only remaining question mark.

The news comes a week before the show’s current season — arguably Edelstein’s meatiest yet — comes to a close. It’s unclear if the finale sets the stage for a possible Cuddy departure, but that seems highly unlikely.

I must say, the chick on the chase may be out of that job be she does a hell of a lesbian scene.

Looks like the recent cbs leaked covered all those axed. Although some interesting tidbits from the release fall schedule for some established shows.

CSI gets moved from thursday to behind criminal minds. Should make this another strong anti-reality night as the ncis block on tuesday does for them. Good wife also moving to sunday at 9. Not sure on this as the sunday spot has been like pulling up the hearse but this is a good rating and reviewed show.

Also for the really odd, they moved rules of engagement to saturday at 8. I can't remember the last time a standard weekly episode was put on saturday other than a cancelled one to burn out its last episodes)

crossing fingers that Breaking In gets reprieve.

Also no idea how they undo the rapid burn through of 2 seasons worth of Nikita plotlines, now that it is renewed and joining Supernatural on friday.

Big Time Rush has been renewed for a 20-episode third season, Nickelodeon announced Tuesday.

The series, which follows four Minnesota boys who move to Los Angeles for a chance at music stardom, will go back into production in January 2012. In the meantime, the network will debut Big Time Rush's new single, "Worldwide," on June 18.

Check out the rest of today's news

"Big Time Rush's success both on and off screen is a true testament to the chemistry between the boys," Nickelodeon President of Original Programming Marjorie Cohn said. "Kendall, James, Carlos and Logan have connected with fans around the world and we are excited to bring even more music and comedic adventures to our audience."

WTH! i thought csi miami was done. this was supposed to be the "final" season. Now it's renewed for unspecified number of episodes. Was the season so bad they had to resurrect this dog of a show?

the event...uncancelled?

Mere minutes after NBC canceled freshman thriller The Event on the unlucky Friday, May 13, show creator Nick Wauters and executive producer Steve Stark told fans that there was a chance the drama could continue elsewhere. That possibility is now taking shape.
Sources confirm that Syfy is in talks to pick up The Event as a miniseries. Helping things is the fact that Syfy and The Event producer, Universal Media Studios, are corporate siblings. But migrating a broadcast show to cable is never easy, and I hear discussions are underway to see if it would be financially feasible.

Show kinda sucked... and I gave it more than 5 episodes. Stopped watching after the break mid-season (one week off?).

and for a bit of casting cancellations; while Criminal Minds gets the regular crew back and boots the newcomer, different happenings at CSI:

EXCLUSIVE: After two-and-a-half seasons, Laurence Fishburne is leaving CSI. The Oscar-nominated actor's deal on the show was up and he opted not to renew it. He is expected to return to features full-time. It was a major coup for CBS to land Fishburne as a successor to original star William Petersen who left the series in December 2008. But when he last renewed his contract for CSI last May, Fishburne only did it for one season. After ten-and-a-half seasons as CBS' Thursday 9 PM anchor, CSI is moving to Wednesday 10 PM this fall. I hear CBS and the veteran crime drama's producers were not surprised by Fishburne's decision. "Nobody expected him to be on the show for 7 years, it's Laurence Fishburne," one insider said. Fishburne will next be seen in Steven Soderbergh's thriller Contagion. With Fishburne gone and Marg Helgenberger only returning part-time, CSI is in a similar position to another veteran crime procedural, Law & Order: SVU where Chris Meloni left and Mariska Hargitay is coming back but not full-time.

They must have found some new disgusting things to eat. That's all the Fear Factor was. The stunts were too damn easy and too safe to be scary. It was all a test to see who could eat the most fermented slug penis.

Holy shit! He was on there for 7 years? Seems like the other guy just left. Wow.
