The official language of the olympics is french. They are supposed to say thing in french first all the time.

We're all required to take it up until grade 8, in my province, it's grade 10, at my school in particular grade 11.

Pretty much, we (and by we I mean my British forefathers) kicked the shit out of the French, then decided to be nice to them.

Not at all. It would be like the US announcing in French and English. Which they would do. Because the official language of the IOC is French. All games are required to be announced in French and English at least.

Besides, French is an official language of Canada. It's on everything here.

Not sure, but I assume so. Would be too difficult to have 30-40+ all doing the same thing with their own Cameras.
