The highlighted in bold are the advantages the accord have over the civic SI.

The accord is roomier, bigger, get better gas mileage & uses regular fuel. It also make a lot more torque & have it readily available at lower RPM compare to the civic.

Tell me why I shouldn't get the Accord & get the Civic Si instead?

Accord is a midsized thing and civic is compact.

The Accord coupe looks better. But it's the same size, if not bigger, than the regular midsize sedans like Fusion, Malibu, Camry, 6 etc.

My 2006 LX drove like it was on rails - now add a better engine, better suspension and a really great shifting gearbox, and you have the Si. I remember eating one when I had my GLi though. I was surprised as I thought he'd take me. Go figure.

I just hope by now they've figured out the 3rd gear popping problem. That would be annoying as hell.

IMO, get the Civic Si if you're looking for something somewhat sporty. 6 speed vs. 5 speed, LSD, smaller, lighter, more mod-able, etc.

Get the Accord if you want a general cruising car, prefer a more cushy / luxurious feel, plan to possibly haul people or lots of groceries in the back, or can't stand the look of the new Civics (like me).

Will this be a daily driver? Do you prefer a sportier car or a softer ride? How's the weather in your area - any snow?

If sportiness is your priority, a used G35 Coupe / Sedan or Mustang GT can be found fairly cheap these days.

It's a daily driver but I want sportiness. I can't stand domestic car's interior design/build quality/and cheap materials. Such as the mustang.

I live in jersey so snow storms suck.

Wait if at all possible. Totally new gen Civic is coming soon, probably next summer or early fall, and I imagine Honda will be stepping it up now that considerable competition is at every level.

I'm surprised the curb weight on the Accord coupe is so low. I think the differences between the two can't be expressed in the numbers. The suspension tuning between the two is going to be very different. The Accord will likely be cushier and more comfortable compared to the Civic's sportier seats / interior. Your best bet is to get behind the wheel of both and see what you like more and which is going to be better for day-to-day driving.

I wouldn't buy either.

The SI, you'll need to rev it out to get the needed power from it, which while fun isn't always for a DD. When it is nice weather though it should be a decently fun car to drive. It does handle well and the engine is pretty good once you get it going. However I have heard of rattle/squeaking issues with this gen civic, but I've not done much research into them.

The accord, if it's anything like what I remember it's going to be a complete bore. Sure it has more torque, but it's hardly quick, although it would help around town some.

If I had to choose between the two it would be the Si as its significantly more fun to drive. It also has an LSD, something I can't tell if the accord has or not, which would help in snow.

And lol at the 'domestic interiors suck' part. Your living in the past I'm afraid.

Really???

c3p0

lol yeah I saw that too. Obviously he hasn't sat in a current-gen Civic and Mustang back to back. Even the Accord is absolutely 0% better than the '10+ Fusion in build/material. But I'm not gonna argue on that, let them either keep their bias or find out for themselves.

I hated my Civic because of the rattles. I had a rattle in EVERY corner of the car within a month.

I was at a dealership not too long ago, and I jut tapped the roof on a '10 model, and I couldn't believe that the rattles still weren't fixed.

I could probably forgive the rattles today, but damn they were annoying.

All cars rattle. Especially the ones made in the USA and Mexico. What you expect? They're not made in Japan.

Most good cars don't rattle.

Cars I've owned that rattled:
2000 Mazda MPV @ Front vin plate hold down after 6 years

Cars I've owned that didn't rattle
2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder after 8 years/60k miles
2002 Toyota Camry after 8 years/110k miles
1997 Lexus SC400 after 12 years/150k miles
2006 Mercedes E500 after 4 years/35k miles
2006 Dodge Magnum after 4 years/70k miles

In this day and age, rattles are unacceptable from any point of origin or manufacturer at any mileage. Like uneven panel gaps, it should be a bygone product of low quality early 90s low quality plastics.

Japan has excellent quality control, but I would not doubt cars made in the US either depending on brand. Mexico on the other hand.... ehhh, but that could also be because VWs are made there and all low end VW quality and reliability is terrible.

My cobalt rattled like a POS, but my Tahoe, I30, GTI and Jetta don't rattle at all.

the accord coupe handles better than the sedan, supposedly the CG is designed lower so is the suspension tuning.
