I miss the Dodge Intrepid. It was the last reasonably good looking large sedan at a reasonable price from an American company.

Not exactly a Chrysler, but the last time my 9 year old Dakota was moved under another vehicle's power was when it was shipped from the factory.

Well unless people are totally ignorant to realize it, Dodge trucks have always been reliable.
I love 2nd gen Dakotas and someday I still want to get one even just for part time use. They are great trucks!!

if 3rd best counts for anything then sure, dodge is great. ford>chevy>dodge>>toyota imo based on working on all of them over the years.

Why are they copying Audis? Shit, why are Mercedes, Lexus, and a billion other car makers copying the dotted LED design?

It only works on an Audi, it looks tacky as hell on everything else.

My 2002 Neon has served me well since 2003. I plan on getting a Challenger R/T soon.

If you had told me two years ago I was going to buy a Chrysler product I would have laughed. Always bought Fords, even get the A-Plan discount.

But ive had a Challenger R/T since June and its a fantastic car. And at 370hp im getting better mileage than I do in my 155hp v6 daily driver. One of my coworkers bought a new Taurus around the same time, and while certainly a nice car I think he wishes he had bought a Challenger.

Good for you.. I'd take a Dodge truck any day, and I know it would be fine.

And yes Toyota trucks are weak.

My buddy just sold his 7.3 F250 for a brand new white Hemi sport RAM. That thing is so hot.

Someone posted on Expedition Portal about his Tundra's drivetrain. The parts were all HUGE, equivalent to what you find on 3/4 ton pickups. It seems to me that Toyota trucks are overbuild and underrated.

lol. Do you remember when Mythbusters bought one of these and found out they had to remove the wheel to change the battery? There was also the steering "clunk" problem. They might have looked good and been fast but they failed due to bad engineering.

The most painfully obvious thing about selling cars is that people want reliable cars. Honda and Toyota have made some remarkably ugly looking cars over the years that sell quite well. The Tercel is the ugliest car ever, but those damn things were everywhere. Chrysler has a lot of vehicles that either look nice or have excellent specs for the price, but they don't sell very well because they don't last long enough. Smaller cars like the Dodge Caliber look like a great deal for all the stuff that is included, but I wouldn't buy one of those damn things because I know it will likely fuck up and leave me stranded when it's -30C outside.

Notice that Ford and GM keep talking about quality. They're saying that their cars are more reliable than ever. They say this because this is what people want. If the people wanted 20" rims and bling, everyone would be driving a Chrysler 300 right now.

My car's battery is under the backseat cushion--No big deal. In fact, it frees up some space under the hood to accommodate the V8!

Some people value aesthetics or an emotional appeal of a car over reliability. Lets say Car X really "speaks to those people," but is 20% less reliable than appliance Car Y, then those people would still get Car X. I suspect that's why many people buy VWs, Audis, etc. So what if they're said to be less reliable? Reliability is just another part of the equation in the car-buying decision. How much of the equation it consists is where people differ.

When Chrysler merged with Daimler it was doing great, had very good sales across all its models, had a HUGE surplus of cash and was well liked by the automotive and buying public.

Fast forward 10 years. Daimler has spent ALL of Chrysler's cash surplus, re-engineered many of its vehicles which are now mostly panned, has heavily levied almost all of Chrysler's physical assets so the company is deeply in debt. Once Daimler has completely ruined the company they spin them off.

Even more revealed now!

2011 Chrysler 300 photo album

Guess I'll retract what I said earlier in the thread about the styling. Still the grille is pretty weak... probably plastic too.

I agree, I like it a bit more now. It actually looks quite nice, I really like the rear 3/4 view.

The problem is, it looks like a Cadillac.

The front has less character. I wouldn't say it looks worse, it just doesn't have any real character.
