2011 Ody has really good MPG for a van, best in class actually. I'd get really what drives better. If you like Toyota, just go for it. bigi is online now Add Infraction for bigi Report Post IP

I did a lot of reading and not a single person or reviewer has so much as sniffed 28MPG. Driving averages are right around 22-23MPG for long term reviews, including many long distance trips. Which is exactly in line for the Sienna. Over 14,000 miles my Sienna has averaged 22.8MPG.

Caravan and/or Town & Country, that's my opinion.

i would NEVER buy a dodge or chrysler. do not bring buffoonery into my thread, please.

A little less personal reply would do rather than this... ("please" did not sugar coat it either)

We chose the Odyssey over the Sienna earlier last year. I prefer the styling of the Odyssey over the Sienna, but obviously that's a personal preference. I also felt that the Odyssey had nicer materials inside (Sienna XLE plastic felt cheaper) and handled better (Toyota's have that "floaty" feeling in the steering that I can't stand).

Both are great cars and comparably equipped. I think the Sienna XLE lets you get both navigation and a DVD player; our Odyssey EX-L just has the DVD option (we weren't willing to bump up the price to go to the Touring models and didn't need a nav system).

Toyota should make the steering weight and suspension of the SE standard. It really is a well composed vehicle. It's not bumpy or rough at all, but is nicely damped with no significant bloated boat floaty feeling normally accompanied by a vehicle of it's size.

The steering weight alone is an easy fix...it's nothing more than a line of computer code.

It's your thread, but views like that are ignorant. It has been a class-leader in minivans for YEARS and has a lot of innovation both Honda and Toyota don't have.

you just made my day. We bought a 2010 late in the model year (last generation). It's rated at 25MPG, I think every time I fill it up (about 1/6th of the time) it is ALWAYS 23.8MPG....regardless of season or driving style. Then I saw the figures on the 2011 (new generation) rated at 28MPG, and always thought...well dammit. Glad to hear they used Korean math.

Yeah we don't get anywhere near EPA on our '07 Odyssey. The biggest problem really is that my wife drives like a bat out of hell in it, I think she averages 17-18 MPG (lots of city driving, carpool lines, etc.). I've driven it ~70MPH on straight highway and gotten 26MPG, but that's as good as we've seen.

Dumbass.
Best selling minivan on earth for a reason.
Have used many as company vehicles and they are all rock solid reliable. They are also very cheap to buy used. It only makes sense to buy as a used vehicle especially.

Don't rag on him too much, a year or so ago he wouldn't be caught dead in anything but a Honda. If he's even considering a Toyota he's making progress.

between the two I'd have to pick the Toyota. Honda still does not get transmissions right. I have one, my brother just replaced his Ody transmission to the tune of 3500 clams.

If it's between a 2011 Sienna or 2011 Odyssey (both new generation), I would go with the Odyssey hands down.

This is based on many test drives and assisting a friend buy a minivan. We both unanimously chose the Odyssey.

Too bad they are both butt ugly, though the Odyssey is a little less ugly than the sienna.

this is the reason why i did not pick a Odyssey . along with the price, a 2011 Honda Vs. a 2011 Toyota Sienna in price is shocking.

I'm not in the market for one, but the new Odyssey design has grown on me. Initially I thought it looked terrible but now it's the only minivan that looks modern.

Everyone else with their slab sides look dated IMO.

I've never cracked better than 25MPG for any long durations. A few times I could eeek out 26MPG, but it was only for a few miles at a time. I've got a 15,000 "long term" average of 22.something MPG.

the best i ever got out of my 2000 sienna was 21mpg and i think i had a tailwind through Idaho.
