Which begs the question - How they hell are they getting so many coal pieces? trading? multiple accounts (I have had my kids give me a few they earned through the F2P games)?

As Dan said, they abused the Humble Bundle. (What? People abusing something that was mean for good? Noooo.) Every Steam account gets about 5 free gifts just by having a single activated game. They give you 2 free at the start, then you get one by recommend a game, posting on someone elses' account, etc.

What are they actually accomplishing from this? Honestly, very little. I would say it would take no less than 3-5 minutes to set up a Steam account with the Humble Bundle to get those 5 gifts, which are most likely 3 coal and 2 coupons, with a rare game here and there.

Do that a hundred times in 3 hours, and you got some chances at the Steam giveaway, some games you probably find worthless (or are on sale for $3-4 anyway), and coupons.

Well, today was sort of sparse. I want Dungeon Siege 3 and LOTR War in the North but not until drop further, so I went for Assassin's Creed 1. I love how they leave yesterday's deals up for 4 more hours now.

What kind of franchise deals haven't been covered yet that are likely to be?

wow, an objective to link steam to your facebook account? I didn't even know you could do that! Now I got to make sure it doesn't do it automatically somehow. At my age (and to most of my friends, college buddies and colleagues on fb) playing games would be look pretty childish and embarrassing.

LOTR was something like $15 at GMG a few days ago so maybe Amazon will pm them. I picked it up but haven't played it yet. DS3 was $5 yesterday at Amazon so it might go on sale again there also. Both use steamworks.

I think coal is worth around $1 a piece, so some people are trading for full games like AC: Revelations

Yea, pretty childish *roll eyes*
I didn't say I agree but that's the way it is. I know with the people on my facebook (hesitate to use "friends") when you're 30 and have a house and a wife etc playing videogames looks childish. I don't really care, but I also see no need to tell anyone.

As a 41.5 year old CPA.....I completely agree. I linked to FB today, won Alien Assault 2 and promptly deleted the Steam app from my FB account using the instructions posted in this thread earlier (thank you to the person who posted them!).

Looking at getting Assassin's Creed. Seen some posts on it above, thanks. I believe in order of release it went AC -> AC2 -> AC Brotherhood -> AC Revelations.

Revelations is too new and expensive for me right now (would be something to pick up if I liked an earlier one) so it sounds like AC2 is the way to go, right? $5 for the Deluxe Edition is pretty crazy.

And yeah, where was I to miss the $10 or $15 latest Deus Ex?? I need to keep an eye out for that one in the new two days, and I probably should have bought Skyrim for $40 the other day so I may do it if it goes on sale again.

Hmm everyone says "my wallet hates me" because of the Steam sale, but do you know who else is going to hate me? Comcast! I go to install some new games (only the ones I need for the achievements) and I'm downloading 17GB worth of new stuff. If we look at my previous downloads, you'll see random 3-8GB installs and then the 21GB for Rage.

I'm kind of afraid to look at my Comcast account page at this point. Luckily, a CSR told me awhile back that they only really get angry if you double the bandwidth quota.

Am I the only not not doing this achievement thing for Steam? I'm just busy playing Skyrim.

Nah, I'm also not doing it, I'm too busy trying out all these new games I've gotten during this sale, I think at least 20 so far...

I've wondered the same thing, but have never got any kinda of bandwidth notice from Comcast, and I always buy and install a ton during the Steam sales.

I think you really have to go overboard for Comcast to send you something... maybe if you won the entire Steam library and downloaded it all at once or something

I have a house and a wife and i'm three years older than you and have no problems letting people on FB know I play video games. Sorry to say, but maybe you should consider how good of friends you really have if they're going to think you're childish for playing video games. Or maybe actually not care like you mention and just leave it up there. Just saying..

You will most likely never get any sort of notice.

Unless you live in Canada or something, most ISPs here in the states are quite lenient. Neither Qwest nor Comcast explicitly state what their bandwidth transfer limits are and they don't really need to. You would have to be using ludicrous amounts of data, such as running a webserver (on a home connection not intended for webhosting) and constantly distributing large files to people 100% of the time 24/7 before getting any kind of warning.

There have been months where I've downloaded probably over 50gb worth of Steam games, and that doesn't include all of my other internet usage (Netflix, bittorrent, etc, etc). It's fine.

I have a few friends around me with AT&T DSL, and if they go over the 120GB cap, they get charged (I forget how much). Unfortunately for them, Comcast doesn't seem nearly as willing to expand as the city does!

So tempted to get TW: Shogun 2. Should I get it, considering I have not even started playing Empire & Napoleon?

My God, The Binding of Isaac is a tough game. Got the achievement, but it took me forever.
