Why is the Blackhawks/Wild game starting at 8:30 central time?

They are both central time zone teams? Why not start them earlier at 7:00 central or 7:30 central?

And why the hell do ALL of the eastern conference series get those nice start times? How about moving one or two of those games to an 8:30 local start time and letting the Hawks play early?

To minimize overlap between games so people can watch multiple games? If you start the western conference game at 7:30 CT, the east game would have to start at either 6:00 or 11:00 local time to accomplish that.

Start the east game at 23:00 local then. They can finally feel the pain of late starts.

Both east games overlap tonight. Let Chicago/Minn start at 19:00 local and let one of the east games start at 20:30 local or even 21:00 local.

I'm just crabby because I will get all of 5 hour sleep tonight provided the game doesn't go to OT (and odds are they will which means even less sleep).

to do that, they needed to give the caps a 5-3 like they did for the rangers in that game 1 you speak of ...

rangers wanted it more in the 3rd period and deserved the win. we had our chances to win... our vaunted powerplay didn't look so hot (well the 2nd PP looked pretty good imho)

i was a little irate how we handled that powerplay at the end... it seemed like we were so afraid of getting scored on the empty net, that we didn't want to take any chances unless it was "tic tac toe"... honestly should have left holtby in and let our PP roll like they normally do

Yeah, after the Rangers spent half of the first period in the box. There was zero chance to establish any flow.

I did think the Caps got way too fancy on the 6-4. Too many passes through the crease instead of just shooting it.

Ovie did a good job selling the high stick - which was legit of course - but with the way he snapped his head back he deserved an Oscar.

I still think the Caps take this one, they're getting a lot more pressure on the puck.

You really shouldn't be complaining when the Wings and their fans have to suffer through 10-11PM local starts in half their playoff away games pretty much every year. I'd much rather deal with consistent 8:30 local starts than 10:30 local starts in most away games.

At least the west-coast games for Central time zone teams are manageable.

And what I wanted to comment was the Wings game yesterday was how most games should be played, only a few penalties and a tight score. It was nice to see them actually get to play the game for once!

Preaching to the choir there. The Hawks get stuck with their fair share of shitty pacific coast starts.

I don't know.. it was like 6-1 Rangers in penalties at one point albeit the Caps had some dumb penalties. Caps still had a shot to win it. I hope they come out next game like they did in the last one. Looked really good until the dumb penalties killed the momentum

he must have gotten lessons from Callahan at one of the breaks

well.. I mean most of them were legit... except the call on Ovechkin in the beginning and the the too many men on the ice call which was ludicrous and the high sticking call against the Caps that never hit the Ranger player ... so maybe most of them weren't legit... haha ... but I also wear rose colored glasses

the real problem IMHO, they were calling everything on the Caps, and nothing on the Rangers and it wasn't because the Rangers were playing like saints ... i bet that changes (i.e. is more even)

I hope penalty calls are more like the 3rd period of yesterday's game ... just let them play

They sure didn't let them play at the beginning of the game yesterday. The roughing penalty after the whistle on Callahan was Charmin soft.

There's going to be embellishment on both sides, but the delay between the stick hitting Ovie and his reaction was almost comical. It didn't even matter, because it was a legit high stick! Guess he wanted to make sure the arm came up.

LOL yeah that was pretty obvious.. he acted like he got shot! It was very soccer-esque

Every series is either 2-1 or 2-2 right now.

Except the Canucks, wtf, I know SJ was only 2 points behind in the standings, but VAN had the higher seed, home ice, etc. etc. Even all the 7 and 8 seeds managed to have wins by now. Are the nucks just the greatest choke artists ever?

Here's to hoping the Canucks fail tonight.

Go Sharks!

Did you hear the fans chanting "You got Kronwalled" *clap clap clap-clap-clap*(in the same cadence of "Let's go Red Wings)? It was awesome!

Are all the Wings fans so braindead? That guy should be removed from the NHL. Did he get fined, suspended for that hit?

Are we talking about the same thing here?

It was actually one of the weakest Kronwallings on record, and the first in a long time. He's not a head hunter, he only does it when you are clearly in his way. Which is why they are so rare.

Most Kronwalls are clean hits. He's been suspended once or twice in the past few years for when his aim is off.

You should know by now how bad the Nucks choke come playoff time. But I bet they come back to win at least two games.

That was indeed one of the worst kronwallings I have ever seen. Not worthy of an animated gif IMO. But we're grasping lately, in absence of real kronwallings.

At least in previous years they had an excuse, losing to the eventual cup winner. Something tells me SJ isn't the Kings of last year or the Bruins of 2011.

This year I think it's more of an ACTUAL face plant.

Kronwall deserves a lot of shit, but that hit was clean. The Duck got himself in a bad position, saw the hit coming, and put himself in a worse position.

True SJ might not win it in the long run but they do have a goalie that has proven to step up his game when needed, Nucks not so much.

Also the Nucks were not very impressive in this shortend season. Of the 8 teams that made the playoffs from the West, they have the 2nd worst GAA.

Clean? He purposefully elbowed the guy in the head. That's not clean, that's aggravated battery.

His elbow does not change angle/elevation/etc. after he lined up the hit, nor does it look like it actually even made contact with the head. He left his feet after initial contact was made.
