I'm just going to quote my post from a few days ago:
They also need to change the rule on kicked goals, because the way they interpret it doesn't match what's in the rule book. If a fan can't be pretty confident about the way it's going to be ruled after seeing a replay, then the rule probably needs to be revised.
Yeah, he was stopping. I've seen other goals disallowed because the player's skate was sliding across the ice like that while stopping. Also, his left skate moved forward relative to his right skate (slightly). A soccer player would call that a kick. It was more of a stop than a kick, but the NHL hasn't been consistent with how they rule on a goal kicked in with a stopping motion.
I don't care what they want the rule to be, I just wish they'd figure it out, put it in the rule book and be consistent.
