League needs to step in and set a precedent early in the playoffs that hits to the head (intentional or not) won't be tolerated.

Wow I just watched the recap of last night's Wings v Ducks game... that must have been one awesome game to watch. The highlights were out of control!

It didn't show the Dekeyser injury though... I'm assuming he took a puck to the hand? I heard on the radio it was a broken thumb.

I think the Canucks are far and away the league's most bitch filled team. Every single one of them has some douchy looking facial hair and cry when a call doesn't go there way, then take cheap shots left and right then cry harder when a team fights back or they get called on it. It's a culture of trying to be the less manliest team on the ice over there. Not even the Pens can match their level of crying.

I disagree with this. This type of thinking is what is going to lead to further wussification of the league. I think the Backhand Shelf blog on this covers it pretty well. But if you'd rather watch TSN analysis on the hit then I've included that link as well (video also imbedded in the blog). They probably described it best by saying basically that it was a good hit with bad results.

Chicago Tribune - Penguins' Crosby expected to play Game 2

Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby told reporters Friday that he will play Game 2 of the playoff series against the New York Islanders.

Crosby returned to practice almost two weeks ago but has not played since March 30 because of a broken jaw.

The Penguins won Game 1 of the series 5-0 on Wednesday.

Game 2 is Friday at 7 p.m. in Pittsburgh.

The Penguins star had a series of dental procedures since getting hit in the face against the Islanders and missed the final 12 games of the regular season. Despite that, he finished third in the NHL with 56 points.

Crosby will wear a protective cage as a safety measure.

Forward James Neal is not expected to play because of an undisclosed injury he sustained in the second period of Game 1.

It's almost better they let the Ducks back in the game, they stopped trying to injure people and actually tried to score goals.

When they were in give-up mode late in the 2nd and early in the 3rd, the douche level was cranked all the way up.

Dekeyser was such an amazing late season addition. So sad to see him out. Wings just can't catch a break, every time someone comes off the injured list, someone else goes on.

Yeah, it looked like a clean legal hit, that just happened to not work out to well for eller. Looks like Gryba got 2 games for it. I think thats horse shit.

I don't know, looked to me like his head is twisting to the right already when his shoulder is hit. That would indicate that the head was hit first.

2) I was at game 7 of the second round in 93 when they took that series.
