I was pleased to see the Leafs and Bruins get a lot more physical. I still want a hard fought 7 game series there.

I hope the Rangers can take it to 6 games as I will be in NYC the Sunday of the 6th game.

Quick is showing what type of goaltending you need to win in the playoffs. Elliot has been great too, but Quick has been spectacular this game to keep his team in to win 1-0.

This. I don't even know what it will take to come out of the west, but I know the shut-down defense that does make it out will be lights out for the east.

Man that Wings game was pathetic. I finally get to watch and I didn't even finish the game.

How do you know that the "shut-down" defense is because the west is lacking offense? I think it's silly to compare the two conferences when no teams have played each other yet.

A fair point, but from watching the teams in the east it doesn't appear to me that a majority of the east teams are clogging up the middle like the west teams do. They're mucking in the corners pretty good, but west teams seem to take the middle away from the offense much more effectively. I think the result is east goalies getting hung out to dry more.

I also don't buy the "west doesn't have any offense" BS. Guys like Getzlaf, carter, Toews, Kane, Perry, and others? They're doing just fine in the offensive category.

Just my opinion from watching a few of the east games on nbc, but I've definitely spent more time watching the ducks and kings, and in turn, hawks, blues, yotes, and canucks as a result.

We'll see in the finals.

It's pretty rare I turn a game off before the end, but I couldn't watch that one. Total meltdown in the 2nd half.

They got frustrated after so many good chances were stopped by Hiller. They need another early goal like in Game 2 to break the seal.

8 out of the top 10 teams with the lowest goals against are in the west, 7 out of the top 10 teams with the highest goals per game are in the east.

1968 total goals in the east, 1854 total in the west. 5.466 ave goals per game in the east, 5.15 goals per game in the west, difference of .31666 total goals per game. Not a big difference. To say one division is better in offense or defense over the other at this point is premature.

What a good game from the Wild who just won in OT to make it 2-1 in the series for Chicago.

Oh man, this Ottawa/Montreal game is fun to watch.
They just showed the stats: both teams combined for 110 minutes in penalties, and the benches look like a rec league. Each team is running like two lines right now since so many people got majors.

Habs got destroyed today. Close 1st 2 period and then completely fell apart in the third period. Once again, Price looked terrible.

A total of 236 penalty minutes was handed out, with 129 to Montreal and 107 to Ottawa, setting a new record.

The NHL record for penalty minutes is Ottawa vs Philly:

By the end of the game, 20 players had been ejected for their roles in the brawl, leaving a combined total of five players on the team benches.[1] The officials of the game took about 90 minutes to sort out all of the penalties that each team had received. In the end, the Flyers had 213 team penalty minutes and the Senators received 206, combining for the record total of 419.
