GAME-OVER Green strikes again. Even my 5-year old boys know him well by that. It's too funny.
This. I don't even know what it will take to come out of the west, but I know the shut-down defense that does make it out will be lights out for the east.Quick is showing what type of goaltending you need to win in the playoffs. Elliot has been great too, but Quick has been spectacular this game to keep his team in to win 1-0.

A fair point, but from watching the teams in the east it doesn't appear to me that a majority of the east teams are clogging up the middle like the west teams do. They're mucking in the corners pretty good, but west teams seem to take the middle away from the offense much more effectively. I think the result is east goalies getting hung out to dry more. How do you know that the "shut-down" defense is because the west is lacking offense? I think it's silly to compare the two conferences when no teams have played each other yet.
Man that Wings game was pathetic. I finally get to watch and I didn't even finish the game.

I also don't buy the "west doesn't have any offense" BS. Guys like Getzlaf, carter, Toews, Kane, Perry, and others? They're doing just fine in the offensive category.
Just my opinion from watching a few of the east games on nbc, but I've definitely spent more time watching the ducks and kings, and in turn, hawks, blues, yotes, and canucks as a result.
We'll see in the finals.
They just showed the stats: both teams combined for 110 minutes in penalties, and the benches look like a rec league. Each team is running like two lines right now since so many people got majors.Oh man, this Ottawa/Montreal game is fun to watch.
What a good game from the Wild who just won in OT to make it 2-1 in the series for Chicago.

A total of 236 penalty minutes was handed out, with 129 to Montreal and 107 to Ottawa, setting a new record.
By the end of the game, 20 players had been ejected for their roles in the brawl, leaving a combined total of five players on the team benches.[1] The officials of the game took about 90 minutes to sort out all of the penalties that each team had received. In the end, the Flyers had 213 team penalty minutes and the Senators received 206, combining for the record total of 419.
The NHL record for penalty minutes is Ottawa vs Philly:
maybe. Or could be a record for Montreal.I assume the record set today is a playoff one.
