Look at the MS3 compared against the Civic Si. Similar price, MS3 is a hatch (+), both are FWD, and the MS3 has more HP and tons more torque. The Si is WAY overpriced for what it delivers today. It should be <20k for it to really be a bargain IMHO.
The MS3 weighs 400lbs more (-), is a hatch (-), gets much worse gas mileage (-), costs $2,000 more (SIs are going for just under $20k, MS3 looks closer to $22k), and is a Mazda (-).

Awesome. The Si still gets smoked by a V6 Camry....I would pay to see that!

Ok, and it's a POS toyota in a completely different segment. What is your point?

Anyone who gets an SI thinking it's going to be super fast is missing the point. Your arguments are making no sense because the aim of the car isn't to be a rocket. Sure some stupid teens might think that, but you sound like one of them when you compare it to a MS3 or v6 camry and say it's supposed to be a super fast car.
Next you'll be telling me a Mustang is faster...

Have you honestly never seen a Mercedes E-Class (Camry copied this) or an Accord Coupe (The new Civic took this)?

Have you honestly never seen a Crown Victoria? Mercedes copied this.

Go troll somewhere else.

Hilarious, a Mercedes copying a Crown Victoria.

PS - Honda took its OWN Accord Coupe tails and put it on the Civic. You and the OP were flat out wrong about copying the Camry, and now you want to cry troll?

It seems that's the way the real trolls work here.

not really noticing a major difference. it's the previous civic plus tweaks that give it more of the same generic styling cues that every manufacturer is currently using. kind of like mk5 to mk6 golf, only it got uglier instead of prettier.

aside from a few uggos (juke), i think nissan looks the best of the big three. honda is more inventive but generally pretty damned ugly. toyota has the same blandness they always have.

i like mazda but can admit their looks aren't for everyone. mitsu should give up on anything but the lancer/evo.

and the tails don't really look like anything else aside from generic similarities that are, as pointed out...generic. the current trend for tails is at least twice as wide as they are tall, with an upward slant toward the outside. extra points for random pointyness.

The Si is a shitty wannabe sports car...

lol its not even that, it's just an econobox that makes lots of vroom sounds, and somehow manages to put a smile on your face despite not really going anywhere that fast

So let me get this straight. The the Civic Si is still an econobox inside and out, it doesn't go fast, doesn't get good mileage, and costs on par with better performing cars. So... what is the point of this car?
Is it just meant to be bought by Honda fans?

I wouldn't call it an econobox. They get terrible gas mileage, require premium fuel, the insurance is absolutely insane, and the price of the car is up there with the Accord. It's a fun car to drive but it's not economical in any way.

It's about time they put the Accord engine in the Si. Why the god damn hell would anyone want a car that needs premium gasoline? That puts the fuel cost in the same category as owning a Ford F150 or a pedovan.

TLDR version: buy the Civic not-Si if you want economy, buy the 4 cylinder Accord if you want it to go faster.

SI isn't that bad, the 2011 does 60 in ~6.5 seconds and with more power the 2012 should be a bit faster at around 6.0.
I4 Accord does it in ~9, V6 auto Accord in ~6.9, V6 manual Accord coupe in ~5.9.

I worded that badly. I didn't mean to say the I4 Accord is faster than the Si. I meant that if you want it go to faster than the 1.8L civic, you should get the Accord 2.4L. Some quick googling says the 0-60 for a 1.8L civic is 9 seconds while the 2.4L Accord is 8 seconds.

Gotcha.

Yeah the I4 manual Accord looks to be around 8, auto I4 around 9.

but the accord is a sloppy boat while the Si handles quite nicely

I guess I can respect that. The Si also has a limited slip differential which may or may not be useful in winter

brings back memories of successfully making it up my 25 degree sloping driveway in the snow with summer tires

Was behind a green NSX for a mile or two this weekend. What a quick little beast that was. Honda needs to get back to their performance roots again.
