"More sizzle than steak" is completely opposite from the truth. The Witcher series has the best writing, characters, and moral choices out of any RPG to come out in a long time. The in-depth branching storyline puts it head and shoulders above any other game for me personally.

I like both games, but even if you didn't like The Witcher 1, you should still try the sequel. There are lots of people, including those on this forum, who didn't like the first but loved the second. They're two very unique games and they play quite differently. Give it a try. $30 is a steal for such a high-quality game. $7.50 is highway robbery.

It also seems a bit contradictory to criticize the voice acting, and then say the game has more style than substance.

I have yet to play Witcher 2, but even at $7.50 I'm reluctant because Witcher 1 was just that bad and I've got a mile of games to play as it is.

I just broke down and bought Arkham City, Orcs Must Die! 2 Complete, and Tropico 4 + all the DLC.

Damn, and I was doing so well at not spending money. The only other game I bought is Hotline Miami. (Which is pretty fuckin' rad, by the way)

I played Arkham City for 1.7 hours yesterday and I can tell you it's totally worth it.

This this this this. I know there are a ton of people on this forum who didn't care for TW1. Even if you are one of those people I highly recommend picking up TW2. Absolutely amazing RPG, not to mention one of the best looking games on the PC.

For flash sales I would not pass up Just Cause 2 or Bastion if you haven't played them. Both are excellent titles.

Alan Wake is a good game, that pack is well worth the $10 imo.

Go for it. Atmospheric game with a cool story. Combat, albeit repetitive, is quite satisfying; and they nailed the dual-wielding mechanic quite well. The plot is what really holds the game together. It's presented like a TV series. Play one episode a night and you'll get through it fairly quickly.
