As for with PoP, no clue which works best with KB/M one of the few games I just straight up use a controller with and never tried the KB/M. That being said, Sands of Time, Two Thrones, and Warrior Within are a trilogy iirc (in that order as well) so just a heads up on that
If you don't like Civ 5 to begin with, then G&K probably won't change your mind. Which is OK. Turn based strategy isn't everyone's cup of tea.
I am not impressed by the sale this year.
It seems to me steam is pushing B and casual games, instead of A rated games.

I was thinking about grabbing Civ 5. I've tried it before and liked it.
Should I get the $5.00 GOTY upgrade or the $7.50 Gods and Kings expansion? I'm leaning towards Gods and Kings. Any input would be appreciated.

Play The Legend first, then play Armored Princess and it's expansion, Crossworlds.
If you can spend a couple extra bucks, get the King's Bounty Platinum edition for $8 which comes with all three of the above. It's the best deal out of all of them. Really well-made CRPGs with HoMM-style turn-based combat.
Warriors of the North just recently came out, which is why it's more expensive (and not included in the Platinum bundle). The first three will give you dozens of hours of gameplay, and by the time you're done with them, Warriors of the North will probably be cheaper anyway.
