IOS Steam App Protip - When verifying your age, select an actual year and let the scroll wheel completely stop before clicking Done, otherwise Gabe N. will proclaim that "You are not old enough to view this content," and the only way to convince him otherwise is to completely delete and reinstall the app.

Finally picked up Fallout 3 GOTY. Hear lots of good things, figured why not for $5.

If it is as good as all the hype, I'll pick up NV during holiday sale.

I loved FO3, and that was the non-GOTY edition. One thing I will HIGHLY recommend, though others may disagree, is to totally avoid using the fast travel system. Sure, it makes things convenient, but it also heavily tarnishes the immersion. IF you do decide to use it, at least wait for a good ways into the game before you do so. It's been 2-3 years since I played it, but I'm pretty sure I never used it. I just made myself trudge through areas, but in that process, I found a lot of stuff I don't think I ever would have found before, and the immersion (which I think is a huge part of what makes the game a real "experience") was never tainted.

So like every Bethesda RPG ever?

Fallout: New Vegas technically doesn't count because it was actually made by Obsidian, and not Bethesda. I hear it's actually much better than Fallout 3 thouugh, both story-wise and combat-wise, although I haven't played it yet so I can't say for myself.

What kind of display would you recommend for getting even more vivid greyish-green and greenish-grey? I must know.

you can get a mod that normalizes the color tint.

I want Rage, but I'd rather pay $5 or so. I may end up buying it anyway.

Isn't Dear Esther like an hour long?

If you can do without the DLC that's a little over $30 for all 4 titles...

Yeah, odd that the package is more. I'm grabbing them all for $31.

Also picked up Metro 2033... I was holding off for that one to get to 75% off.

Love AOE - have to get that too.

Should I get Dear Esther?

Yes, just as long as you know what to expect when you buy it.

FWIW it's not a game. I would call it an "interactive storybook", but that's not even accurate, because it's not interactive either.

It's basically a 90-minute long walk on an abandoned island (albeit the most beautiful island I've ever seen in a video game), with a narrator gradually telling you a story as you explore (in fact the best voice-acting I've ever heard).

There's no combat, no challenge, nothing. You walk around a beautiful, desolate environment as the narrator tells you a story (and without spoiling anything, it's a very bleak one). Can't recommend it to everyone, but if you're patient and adult enough to experience something a little more different and though-provoking, I definitely recommend it for $2.

Men of War: Complete Pack - $12.49 (75% -- all individual items are also 75% off)
Assassin's Creed: Revelations - $13.59 (66%)
RAGE - $9.99 (67%)
Metro 2033 - $4.99 (75%)
Iron Front: Liberation 1944 - $19.99 (33%)
Dear Esther - $2.49 (75%)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - $2.49 (75%)
Age of Empires III Complete - $9.99 (75%)

EDIT:

NOTE: The Assassin's Creed pack has been reduced to $34.99 making it cheaper than the individual price!!

This game has intrigued me for a while. I suppose if it's crap I'm just out $2.50

Maybe I'll snag at least one of Rage and/or Metro 2033 this time around since they're up again. I was also curious about Dear Esther, I'll go for a good interactive story for that price.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority on this, but I didn't like Metro 2033. However, I'm not really into dark, horror-style games.

I didn't like it either. The controls felt clunky, the weapons were unsatisfying, and the story didn't engage me.

Might finally be time for me to get Metro 2033.

I'm thinking the same thing. But then I'm also thinking....with my current backlog I should just wait until December and it'll probably be the same or cheaper.

Damn Steam.
