How's the graphics on Rage? Looking for something to show off my kids' new rig.

They're good. Not the best, but for showing off a new PC, they're pretty impressive. Especially if you're showing it off to people who aren't accustomed to seeing high-end graphics on a gaming PC, then it's fantastic.

Although the poster before me is correct that Metro 2033 is probably better. The only problem with Metro is that it doesn't have the large outdoor environments that RAGE has. (But still, Metro is better)

Rage, everything looks good from far away and gets uglier the closer you get generally.

Metro 2033 is eye candy though and a good game too boot

*Sigh* fine, I bought KOTOR, under the enormous pressure of all the positive reviews.

Now I gotta find a widescreen patch for it.

Math fail, adds up fine for me. Probably not your fault though, Steam's pricing has had a little trouble today. A couple times it couldn't decide if Rage was 9.99 or 10.19.

They had the price of the pack messed up earlier.

KOTOR is definitely a BioWare classic. And, if you missed it long ago on Xbox 1, Jade Empire is great too.

Speaking of Jade Empire, this is the first time it has been on sale since the Holiday 2009 sale

God I loved KOTOR lol. I think it was the first game I still played after I beat it, just to go dark side heh. Jade empire was awesome, too. Ahh, memories

Just spent $15 on the Trine Bundle, FEAR3 and Metro 2033. So my wallet isn't too badly damaged yet but I'd still like to pick up the id complete pack at some point.

There are some older games I've been eyeballing - Crysis and Spore. I wonder if they have any chance of going cheaper. I'll have to wait and see I guess.

It's not just today, Steam has trouble every single seasonal sale. There's always a couple instances where the front page price doesn't match the checkout price, or the initial discount gets changed mid-day for some reason. It's bit a couple of us who get into "buy mode" and just fly through the confirmation dialog. Yeah it should be read more clearly but you still get the feeling of bait and switch if it happens to you. There was one sale last year where they had at least one pricing error every day. Some were just quick changes once they went live but not all.

Buy it now. Download later.

The original FEAR is a masterpiece, one of the best shooters ever made, and had some well-implemented (tasteful) horror elements added on top.

The sequels were mediocre at best, added Cawadooty-style gameplay, and were focus-tested to hell so they could appeal to 15 year olds.

FEAR 1 is a must buy. FEAR 2 and 3 not so much.

I completely agree: Fear 1 is one of the best shooters I have ever played and the AI was ahead of its time. Out of nostalgia, I used a friend's hookup from EA to get all the FEAR's (just CD's, not DLC). I wonder if there's a clean way for me to install it into Steam (I have the CD-KEYS) in a manner where Steam will manage patches/updates for me?

I'm sure both of those will go on a daily deal. Crysis, at least.

I'm curious to see if Crysis 2 will go on deep discount. I'd like to get it for $7.50, maybe even $10.

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition was released on Steam relatively recently, but right now it's already 50% off ($19.99), so it's not too far-fetched.

FEAR isn't an EA game.

And the CD keys won't activate on Steam or anything. You're only choice is to just re-buy the game for $5.

I don't think my kid will be into Metro. I own it, so I'll have him use my Steam account and see how it looks.

I knew you'd point that out. Maybe it was Activision? I can't tell you exactly how it happens (because) but a friend of a friend works at a major game publisher and they have a sheet of retail boxed games employees can buy in the Company Store. I picked out FEAR and FEAR 2, maybe FEAR 3, paid $10 or whatever and got them.

I actually think you can do the install, complete with key.

Boxed retail versions of MW3 will activate on Steam because it's a Steamworks game. You must link it to a Steam account regardless of where you buy it. FEAR, on the other hand, doesn't work this way; if you want it on Steam, then you have to buy it directly through the Steam store. That article you linked doesn't really apply.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a jerk and/or rain on your parade.

However, upon further research, both FEAR 2 and FEAR 3 activate on Steam. But the original doesn't.
