I clicked on it to buy, than had 2nd thoughts when I saw it only got a score of 67.
Anyone want to offer an opinion of the game?

Don't just look at the score, read some of the reviews. Most the reviews I've glanced over that give the game a negative score do so because it is a train simulator (how does that even make sense I don't even know).

Is this really a game about jumping off a building:

AAAaAaaAaAaaaaaAAaa!! for the Awesome

Yeah. It's actually more difficult than it sounds as it's more like a skydiving version of Pilotwings where you want to dive close to buildings and through small passageways. You also want to flip off haters and give thumbs up to supporters!

I played it a bit during the winter sale to get the achievement... it was a bit hectic, but I did it!

You operate both cargo and passenger trains, adhere to timetables, control and maintain speed, adapt to different weather conditions, avoid wheelslip, etc, etc. There's different scenarios you can do which range from Easy to Hard, and can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 4 hours long in real time.

The learning curve really isn't that big. Most of the challenge is getting used to the "feel" of different locomotives, how they accelerate and brake. That sort of thing. The physics are surprisingly good; when you're sitting in the cab and going around a curve, you can actually feel the train tilting every-so-slightly and bumping along the track.

It can be a very relaxing game (as long as you pick an easy scenario). There's something very calming about sitting in the drivers seat of a passenger train, hearing the engine roar beneath you, and watching the rainy European countryside as it rolls by.

I don't pay attention to Metacritic scores. They're all bullshit to me anymore.

You can get into some pretty nasty train wrecks if you try hard enough.

Thing is, modern locomotives and rail systems have multiple safety-nets that prevent this from happening. Railway signals will notify you if you should slow down or come to a complete stop in case there's a hazard up ahead. In the event that the train operator doesn't stop or slow down to the appropriate speed, an on-board computer will actually override the controls and apply the emergency brake automatically, and the only way to resume operation is to wait for the train to come to a complete stop.

Road crossings function automatically, so you have no control over whether the gates come down or not. And the game doesn't have "random cars getting stuck in the middle of the tracks, and subsequently getting pwned" programmed in.

...but yeah, you can still get into some wrecks.

That pretty much catches you up on the last few pages of this thread.

Anyone know why I have to retype my address every single time I buy? I check off "use this information for future purchases" but it always reverts to my old info. Makes me want to punch a kitten.

I got Limbo a while ago for $5. Not a bad buy, simple puzzle game. Finished it not too long ago, definitely worth it for $2.49. Only a keyboard required.

I don't have an answer - but I recall it doing that to me during the last steam sale too. Annoying to say the least.

This is the first year I've gotten in on their sales. I've bought a handful of games at this point (maybe 5?) and it never saves. And I'm buying with 2 different accounts. Both do not update.

Hows costume quest?

Some games have this quality of being compulsive but not especially 'fun'.

Not that many - a couple come to mind, this one and that 'High school girls in danger' or similar title.

They're games that pull you in - Costume quest keeps you going to explore the area, collect things, and so on... but it's sort of not especially fun.

I suspect a lot of people will like it, and it offered some entertainment.

I more just liked the sort of creative premise involving the costumes. So I can't really recommend the game that much generally - except to say, that it's a bargain at this price and it pulled me in, and you might be glad you got it, I suspect it's a matter of taste sort of game.

It's basically a game that involves collecting costumes, and some simple 'combat' where the costumes you use provide skills.

There's a bit of a puzzle/adventure aspect to it as you have to find some secret areas.

I think the $7.49 package is a great deal, with Psychonauts and Stacking - another creative premise, perhaps a third of the 'pull you in compulsive' games.

Unlime some, I'm a big fan of the gamerankings/metacritics scores, but this game is the biggest exception I can remember where it's just wrong. It's a steal for the price.

Be happy you have to do that. I can basically buy a game with two clicks and that's way not enough time for rationality to kick in. Well, try to clear you browser's cache or make sure you can have cookies.

Oh, and Demigod looks cool. It's 4.99 at 50%:

It's a steal for the price.

Looking at the 3 page long list of DLC they probably figured out it'd be smarter to make the base game dirt cheap.

Already have it.

Same here. The best deal on DLC appears to be the 'Haulin USA' bundle with three DLC for 905% off, $7.19. They also have a big European DLC bundle for 82% off at $49.99.

(Sounds like a lot but this game has close to $2000 DLC available last I checked).

Got the Canadian National Addon and the Black 5 Scenario DLC.

I was trying to find if there's any 'especially good' DLC to get (thread on Steam).

Hence my 4 game Steam log multiplied like rabbits on steriods to somewhere around 40.

I'm using a prepaid CC so at least I won't have to mortgage anything after the event.

Took some damage and have some awesome games now. Just waiting on Oblivion, Just Cause 2 DLC and Dragon Age: Origin, automatic buys at 75% off. The rest are either not that motivating or video card can't handle.

Have to thank both Steam and whoever hyped Borderlands. It was totally off my radar and it's one of those games that is all you can think about for a few days. So happy there's a '2' coming out.

Demigod IS quite fun - it's basically like an Arena-style RTS game. But it gets old fast, and you realize that the "gods" aren't quite as balanced as you hope they'd be. $5 is a great price for it though.

Ah, didn't notice the Haulin' USA bundle until you pointed it out. 90% off is a great deal. I already own Horshoe Curve, as well as the vanilla game (obviously) but I don't have Donner Pass or Northeast Corridor yet. Still worth it for those two, seeing as they're $19.99 each otherwise. Bought.

...WTF, I had $50 in my Steam wallet just two days ago. Now it's back down to $7. D:

I want to get Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum but I don't want to pay $15 for it. I'd be happier for $10 or less.
