Anyone play tank battles?

No, but ~80 ratings call it a 'tower defense game with some good ideas'.

They say that you can design your own units:

- Infantry (weak, bonus points to get through)
- Armor (blocks artillery, weak against lasers)
- Mechs (blocks lasers, weak against artillery)

Go with new vegas.

The original fallout is very, very dated. You can get the original fallout for free from gog or direct2drive? One of those sites has it for free.

EDIT

Gamefly has fallout free to members

My opinion:

Fallout was a classic, largely kicking off the 'post-nuclear world' game design IIRC, and known for a dark sense of humor and interesting character traits.

Many do say it's dated now, though I think only in ways. It was never Crysis.

I think it's very worth it - but as others said you can get it for free.

Fallout 2 I've barely started, but it seems 'more of the same'. One claim to fame is the option to get married - and then make money selling your wife for sex.

My impression of Fallout is 'worth it', but not adding a lot to Fallout. It's the main reason to get the package.

Fallout tactics has fans, but I hated it. It seemed hard and had very little fun to me. I know, shouldn't it be fun with a squad armed with things like machine guns, but it wasn't.

So, that leaves Fallout 2 and the chance you will like the very tactical turn-based fallout tactics. They say Fallout and Fallout 2 are reasonably different than other Fallout games.

Worth $10 for that? Up to you, but get Fallout to try it, and if you love it, you'd like Fallout 2.

Random from Engadget while refreshing for the next sale:

"Seeing as how so much software is moving to online distribution, the significance of this controversy might extend far beyond gaming and XBLA. For now, however, the spotlight is firmly on Microsoft and the way it charges developers for testing their games and patches, after a well-known developer made an unusually public complaint. In a post on its official blog, Polytron said it would not patch a rare game-saving bug in its popular title Fez, because Microsoft would charge it "tens of thousands of dollars to re-certify the game." It added that "had Fez been released on Steam instead of XBLA," the problem would have been fixed "right away" and at no cost to the developer, which strongly hints that it'll jump to another platform as soon as its XBLA exclusivity expires. Responses to the story over at our sister site Joystiq are decidedly mixed, with some folks outraged that Microsoft's high maintenance attitude could hold back improvements in this way while others suspect Polytron of blame-shifting."

SPAZ, Killing Floor, and Walking Dead are up now...didn't think about SPAZ but if it goes to $2.50 I might get it. Trying out the demo first.

Just some speculation:

Microsoft demands profit from the XBLA group. That leads the group to charge for things, like 'thousands for re-certification'.

It's just a bureacratic thing with unintended consequences. While a developer might be able to do a down and dirty fix, can Microsoft trust the fix?

If the fix broke things, would XBLA get blame for lack of quality control?

Microsoft might justify the charges saying they 'pressure the developer to get it right the first time and not release with bugs, which is good for players'.

Who knows? Always tradeoffs.

I'm holding steady at a grand total of $0.00, but that's because I seem to have missed Max Payne and The Witcher 2. Whoops.

On another note, it is a bit disconcerting as I read the Steam forums and see several posters who are banned - some with years on the forum and hundreds of posts.

I assume they did something wrong, but does that mean they lose access to all the games they bought? Did they make an 'innocent mistake'?

I see these people trading games between regions and wonder if that's not allowed...

Everyone should own Beyond Good and Evil just an little fyi there

Is it really that good? Though at 2.50 that's a moot question. I'm totally getting revved up for Spaz tho, even at 4.99. Spaz supposed to be a top down shooter but the space ship is in the middle, which reminds me of Asteroid (a bummer). Downloading demo atm.

How stupid is that you cannot buy all the Fallout New Vegas DLC cheaper than rebuying the game with all the DLC?
