2012 Steam Summer Sale: DEAD!

Heh, avoid GTA IV. It has both of the aforementioned logins.

It keeps popping up - not letting me proceed to start the game without creating a user ID...otherwise my progress won't be saved or is saved as default user...

Steam started it.. Rockstar, Origin, and MSN are now all trying to create their own "Social networks" for the digital games... all trying to create an "asset" of user information and user community...

The sale, the fact that a friend mentioned co-op, and after watching the Clones trailer, I actually went and bought the season pass DLC this morning too.

The Season Pass gives access to three future mission packs—Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space, and The Trouble with Clones. The Franchise/Collection pack includes those 3 missions + all the other DLC for $0.80 on top of the standalone game. Steam is selling the Season Pass on its own for $4.99.

I swear it wasn't like this earlier, but now the Saints Row: The Third Franchise Pack is on a double-discount. It's now only $13.29, which is 87% off.

I wasn't following the sale religiously but maybe I saw the Franchise Pack for something like $24-26 in the earlier days of the sale (~75% off). If so, it's somewhat of a 'dirty' tactic on Steam's part to put the same thing for another 50% off or so at the very end hehe

Hated DC, to be honest. The way that the races were gimped so that you could only have so many of such and such units was really stupid, I thought. Add to that the gimping of the high end units (like Terminators) or making shit really expensive (I'm fairly sure a Predator cost more vehicle count than a Land Raider...wtf?!). Just dumb. I liked the races so much more in vanilla and WA, DC made all the races really puny-feeling and stupid.

My guess is the decision to "gimp" some of the high level units and limit the number of units is due to race balancing. I enjoyed Dark Crusade a lot. While they put some limitations they've also added new units and somewhat added an RPG element to upgrade your force commander as the game progresses. To each his own of course. If you hate DC you'll loath Soulstorm.

Yeah, I haven't got Soulstorm, but I have all the other ones. IMO THQ turned a perfectly good franchise with DoW and WA into a shitty game experience with DC - progress for progress' sake, rather than because it actually made the game better.

Still on the fence about whether DoW II is worth getting...

Not a bad thread, though, to make it better, I think it would have been nice to mention the Amazon deals that were much cheaper, still could be activated on steam...

As for the steam sale itself, meh.
I didn't buy anything from them, it was either cheaper @ Amazon, or the games had lame DRM on top of steam's DRM.
