Is anybody else having issues with game videos within the Steam client? They play ok when in the little default window, but when I switch to full screen, it's a total slideshow.

This this this.

It's been doing it to me for at least a couple weeks now.

I thought it was just me.

P.S. I've been following this thread for about half the summer sale and love you guys' commentary on the games. I just didn't feel the need to make an account until I saw this question.

Anyone else have the problem? Anyone know the solution?

P.P.S. Burnout Paradise is a lot of fun, even if you don't do anything but sandbox around and crash into things as hard as you can (which is how I play it). Ironically, the game, well, crashes a lot on my PC. It's like crash-related meta humor. I can hear my PC chuckling.

I'm tempted to get Burnout Paradise for PC even though I have it for 360. I have put in probably 50-75hrs maybe and still haven't done everything due to just wasting time driving around the city. It just hurts thinking of getting all those same cars / achievements again though.

I'm sure there is some utility to unlock all the cars. Maybe use someones save game. There was this bug on PS3 that would corrupt your save. It happened to me three times. The second and third time, I could unlock them all in one sitting. I just couldn't stand Marked man...frickin AI cheats.

Sadly, I don't know how to use a playlist in any useful way. Not much on MP3 anyway. I would like a 'real' radio type feed option, commercials could be ok to pay for it.

On PS3 you could just use your PS3 playlists. You had to set it up ahead of time, and once in game just select it.

Those races... the hard part was just knowing where to go and not missing turns, a lot. You'd find yourself minutes on the other side of the map after a race, kind of inconvenient.

Well, at least with the ranked races, the paths were pretty much set. There were some shortcuts you could take, and you could learn them by sticking close to the leaders. I wasn't big on the custom races, because they were always rigged for the person who set up the race. Still kinda fun when you were dicking around with friends and everyone was using a mic. It seemed like it was the only PS3 game where people used mics.

Be nice to have had a 'return to start of race location' option. I liked how you didn't have to do a lot with stunt events if you didn't want to, which I didn't.

This was patched in as well. It made unlocking everything after a corrupted save less painless. The fact that Criterion supported it so well and added just about every feature you could want, made them one of my favorite developers. Sadly, it looks like EA put a stop to that.

There's a thread in the forum about it, where it plays a one minute commercial at start.

Plays the commercial each time you start the game?

I searched for all threads with "Risen" in the title, but couldn't seem to find it. I guess it's buried in another Risen related thread, or just another general PC gaming thread?

Here it is:
http://www.cheathappens.com/14884-PC-Burnout_Paradise_cheats

Scroll past the trainers for the savegame. That site is legit, don't worry. Been using it for years. They have paid membership (only required for certain files, not needed for the savegame file in question), no malware of any kind. And absolutely anti-piracy and anti-multiplayer-cheating. In fact they're hard core against that.

For those of us who'd rather screw around than try to 'achieve' anything, hehe.

I think I found it. Is it that VOID service by GamersGate?

Did one of the flash deals just change? Whatisitwhatisitwhatisit? (Stuck at work)

Also, does anyone want to try to sell me on Risen 2? Or is it just meh at best? I got home literally 12 minutes before the last sale ended, which was exactly enough time to kill one crab in the demo. It didn't sell me.

I WANT it to be good, because pirates. But that doesn't mean it is.

I liked both Far Cry games, although I agree they're way different.

Far Cry was awesome because the tech was so new. Look! I can see more than 50 feet! Look! There's a shadow on my gun! A SHADOW! On my GUN!! Don't get me wrong - it's a great game, but that was some of its appeal.

Far Cry 2 is beautiful to look at and does a very convincing job of making you feel like you're in a different part of the world (unless you actually live in Africa, I suppose). The gameplay is fun, too, and the self-healing animations (like pulling a bullet out with pliers) are neat and add a lot to the feeling of being there.

Where 2 falls down is the insane respawns. You can kill everyone at a checkpoint (which is ANY place that two dirt roads cross, all of which are heavily defended with machine guns, grenade launchers, etc) and then drive down the road a ways, turn around and come back - and get a fresh crop of bad guys.

It makes it impossible to just roam around the game world unmolested, which is a shame, because it's otherwise clearly designed to be roamed around in. Every mission requires traveling a long way, and lots of side missions can be found along the way. So yeah - kind of an open world that demands you wander around... and then punishes you for it.

I have started and quit 2 or 3 times because of those stupid respawns. Everything else is super good, though.

Oh, and the weapons degrade kinda fast, particularly the dart gun. You fire a dart, and suddenly your gun is all dirty and banged up looking. It's funny. Sorta.

I don't have any interest in what's up for vote now (already played Borderlands on X360). What should I vote for? Though I'm betting MW3 wins regardless.

What? Far Cry was a brilliant game and got glowing reviews, if you didn't like it don't get FC2, many people think it sucked majorly.

Too late. The AI in the first one was screwy. Getting sniped by rockets and such.

Sorry, a steam forum thread for the game, under 'risen is free' or similar.

I'm not sure anyone here has played it. It sounds like it has some good qualities, but got ratings in the 60's for a reason as well. Between reviews and he demo should help.

I'd like it just based on the 'sound' of the game and supporting an RPG like that, but it's still kind of pricey for the sound of it, not to mention DLC.

I haven't seen it on sale that I recall...

I haven't played a driving game in years but I'm thinking about Driver San Francisco or Burnout Paradise.

Are there better options on sale right now?

Are they reasonably playable with KB+M?

Well thanks... I'll play the demo some more. Should have a couple hours before the sale ends by the time I make it home. That should be plenty.

It hasn't been on sale yet because it's fairly new, I think.

But Risen 1 is currently on sale for 5 bucks, so yeah. Unless it really grabs me, I should probably wait until next year's sale and get Risen 2 for 5 bucks.

Even with the sale price, chucking R2 in the cart with the DLC is like 50 bucks. That would go a long way on other titles during this sale.

STILL - Risen has a special place in my heart. It is so a PC game. Zero percent console infection. I wonder if R2 has the same vibe.

Just grabbed Driver:SF today...still worth it? Price seems right, that's for sure...just not sure how much driving I can take all at once.

Haven't played Driver SF yet, so it's hard to quite compre them... but hard not to say get Burnout (funny name given your question) even if you save it for a bit to play.

Get both, but from what I hear and my sense of it, better with a controller than keyboard.

I have a bad habit of getting games I like on the PS3 on the PC as a bundle 'just because'.

I know what you mean. I remember that these studios need sales at the higher price points tonot go out of business, not only buyers at bargains. Mixed reviews...
