Finally got my car last night (Oxford White, fully loaded/ST3). Coming from a 2007 VW Rabbit/Golf I have to say it's really awesome hearing the growl when I push the accelerator a bit. The power feels great and the car is damn fun to drive. The MKVs still look good to me thanks to their classic design but the ST looks and feels like a spaceship in comparison. The gadget nerd in me has 0 problems with this.

This is my first car with a turbo and my first car with HID headlamps. I was driving home at night and started freaking out because I thought I was blinding everyone with my highbeams. Yeah, HIDs/Xenons are freaking bright but I'm loving the clarity.

I'm hoping to put my winter wheels on today and hoping to get the tint on ASAP (I can't live without this). Pics will follow soon. My car is filthy since I told the dealer not to touch it and it's getting cold out. If any one has any winter detailing tips, I'm open to some PMs.

Awesome! Hope you enjoy it

Congrats on the new member of the family

Car and Driver last month said the engine growl of the ST is nearly the same tone as what comes from the Lamborghini Aventador!

Anyone else use an android phone with SYNC via bluetooth? I'm wondering if there is a better or easier way to do it. What I do, I click the SYNC button, say "bluetooth audio", and then "play". This doesn't always automatically start the music though, I then go into my phone and manually start the music.

Also, when playing via bluetooth there is no artist information. Is that how it will always be? On the SYNC page they talk about being able to use commands like "play artist nirvana" or whatever, and it seems like they wouldn't work if SYNC can't get the artist information over bluetooth audio.

I mostly use amazon's mp3 player, could that be the issue?

I haven't had any problems with a Galaxy Note 2 + Spotify over bluetooth other than:
A) I don't use voice command to acheive this
and
B) Artist/track info doesn't display correct info.

I also managed to use Google Play to play some of the songs I had on my phone and they seemed to work 100% over bluetooth. I'd be willing to guess that Amazon's MP3 player could be causing your issues.

Maybe that should be my next car.

Funny, that is the exact phone I am using, a Note 2. I mean it does work, as long as I start music player app on my phone manually. I just thought there might be a way to get it to play auto-magically through voice commands without needing to mess around with the phone. In my Fiesta it is about the same, I just thought the newer version of SYNC might handle things better.

I am going to try switching to Google's Play Music app. I guess to get artist information I would just need to move my music onto a USB stick and play it directly from the car?

Switched to Google Play Music and the song/artist info is appearing. I guess it's just a flaw in amazon mp3.

Question for the owners (though it may be too soon if they're breaking it in):

Has anyone experienced any torque steer when stepping on it yet?

I have a whopping 53 miles on my car as of this post so it's obvious I haven't experienced it myself. From reading around on some forums though, apparently not near what the MS3 is but it is present. I've never driven an MS3 so I have nothing to compare it to there.

Hopefully someone will be able to answer this better or you can wait until I get (a lot) more miles on it.

Almost 300miles on mine, but haven't really got on it too much in first gear. Haven't noticed any yet.

I hardly notice any torque steer in my MS3... =shrug=

Drove one today. It was the 201 package I think? Had everything except HID and heated seats.

What I liked - The color. The orange color is awesome, bit too much for a everyday hot hatch, but it made me feel special, like I was in an exotic.

The seats. Holy hell. I wanted to buy them out and fit them into my GTI. My GTI's seats aren't uncomfortable, in fact I love them very much, but I need those recaros.

Steering. Loved it. Felt direct, I could feel the wheels turning. Felt a few notches better than my GTIs, but I didn't feel at a loss when I got straight back into my car.

What I didn't like - Interior. It didn't feel cheap or anything but it was very busy. I struggled to find anything. The steering wheel especially, I just didn't like the lay out. I'm very fond of the straight forward simplicity of my GTIs. I'm sure the Focus' makes sense and grows on you once you get used to it but when I first got into a GTI I managed to find my way around in a few quick seconds.

Power - Didn't feel any faster than my GTI does. Not really a "didn't like" as it is a disappoint, expected it to be quicker. I will give it credit that it felt like a bigger engine, you just seem to always have power to move you forward. No "turbo" feel, not sure how else to describe it.

Overall a good car. Even better I hope it shows other makers that there is a market for these cars and pushes some innovation and development on all the other contenders, even VW for the next GTI.

 Nice honest review.

I also suspect you would get used to the controls but I agree with you that the dash looks very busy. I haven't driven one yet but I have driven the Focus Titanium and have sat in the ST (was wearing my motorcycle boots so a test drive wasn't possible). Love those Recaro seats.

I suspect that if I drove this car I'd probably buy it. I was impressed with the Titanium. Love that these hot hatches are coming with some nice features like leather, nav, etc.

Friend bought one over Xmas and he's had it a month now. From what he says the interior is really not the best and is a little confusing. He was coming from a 2010 sonata and said basically that he liked the ford interior dash looks better but it didn't feel as nice and the stereo wasn't really as good as far as being easy to use.

I sat in it with him for 5 min and we took a drive. Those seats (he has an st2 no hid or Nav in blue with the recaro) were awesome. Its like they hug you. Probably not the best for anyone who isn't skinny but I love them. The sports seats in my car (328) are good. But the focus st seats are sublime . Probably some of the best seats I've ever sat in.

Sometimes it feels like you need a lawyer to buy a new car

No, just a domestic car. You don't have to deal with the shady horseshit most dealers try to pull when you buy a Lexus.

The thing that puts me off Fords the most is their shitty dealer services.

The MyFordTouch system with climate control really does get rid of a lot of the in-dash clutter.

The steering wheels is very busy with controls for everything on there.

Upper left: Driver interface controls for the cluster (MPG, Distance to Empty, Trip Computer)
Lower Left: Cruise Control switches
Upper Right: Stereo Controls
Lower Right: Sync Controls (phone)

After having my Titanium for a year & 18K commuter miles - everything is second nature. The most current Sync release 3.5.2 I think - simplifies the voice controls from what I've read. I'll upgrade to that on my next dealer visit for another $40 syn blend oil change.

I agree. I bought my Focus from a close friend who worked at a Ford dealer here in north texas. Sadly he's now departed, but the rest of the dealership was such garbage that I doubt I'll go back. I've visted two other local Ford dealerships here just to poke about (thinking about dumping this '12 Scion TC here shortly for a Mustang), and was really unimpressed with the treatment.

Yeah, you really need to try those seats before you buy them. I'm fairly thin (32" inseam) but 6'4", and those seats were almost too narrow for me. If you have various passengers on a regular basis, it might be a good idea to get the regular seats.
