Anyone get underwhelming salary raises this year? I did and am trying to figure out the best way to ask for a better adjustment.

You probably won't have much luck bringing it up after the fact. Usually they have a certain $$ allocated in a pool for raises and they divide it up between everyone at various percentages.

You're better off bringing it to the attention of your boss before raise time that you think you're underpaid so that they can plan for a higher raise for you (at the expense of someone else)

I did just that (talking to my direct supervisor before raise time that I'm pretty underpaid) yet I still ended up with a ~2% raise despite getting top (of my department) Annual review....

While true, but I'm in the same boat as you (~2%). Isn't that like the inflation-rate/standard raise?

4% initially then increased to 22% but that's because I had an offer from another company.

whoa, 22%, that's awesome, congrats! Although you know what they say, if you had to force their hand to give you a larger raise by "threatening to leave" they're already looking for a replacement for you in the meantime blah blah blah (doesn't apply to all situations).

About 4% last year, and hopefully around 22% this year, but that's because it's automagic promotion for the first few years, along with more responsibility, and then further promotions dependent on qualification and ability.

Sometimes it's nice to work in a training firm that has a defined structure and career progression for the first few years. No real fear of not getting a raise for the first 4 or so years, unless you are a massive screwup.

Doesn't apply in my situation.

8% for me.
3% raise and I get back a furlough day which amounts to 5%.

Thanks for the information, I guess in IT, its been pretty flat this year. I did get a bonus in addition so maybe I should stop complaining.

Nice!

8% for me...did not expect it.

Those kinds (unexpected) are always the best.

I got no raise because I was promoted in November and apparently you wouldn't want to reward an employee for good performance twice in one year or anything. From talking to others, the raises were in line with the past few years, though (3-3.5% average).

(Apparently my yearly raise was "accounted for" in the promotion, but...)

Now I'll be starting a temporary job in August (same pay grade) that will (likely) lead to a promotion at the end of it.

7.5%, but i wasnt getting much, so i still dont get much. considering that my taxes went up a little (taxing not much didnt increases taxes that damn much) in the beginning of the year and my health insurance went up a little (company gives an allowance each month and after that its on me) i get like $40 - $50 a month more than what i was getting in my pockets in december.

sort of sucks, especially considering what they have me doing. i am job hunting.

Got the highest rating for my pay grade and got 0% raise, yay! I did get a 4.5% bonus and leave the company immediately after getting my bonus so the raise didn't matter much either way.

4.39% Merit + COL, and that's REALLY good compared to others in my company.

2% Lowest in 6 years. Working on a promotion to get around that pitiful raise.

last year was .50 an hour more. nothing yet this year. evaluations aren't completed until like the end of June.

would be nice to get a decent raise considering how much my manager compliments me on my work.
