I managed to resist this one until the very end, when I bought Far Cry 3 and Dragon Age Origins Ultimate for $15. I did also buy that Elder Scrolls Anthology from Amazon though.

I'm having a surprising amount of fun with Pokernight 2 and Van Helsing from the sale..

Also got Skyrim legendary, but once I did the work of installing and spending the whole evening studying and installing mods, I was too tired to actually play it.

Picked up Farcry 3 and DA:O as well, those are on deck.. Lots to do before the xmas sale

I feel you here. Elder Scrolls modding is way too complicated, I set up Oblivion a while back and had to load something like a dozen mods just for the simple non-game-altering upgrades.

My wife and children love hidden object games, unfortunately, most of them are horror, ghost, spooky based stuff which my children are scared of. I bought them Pickers on Steam which they're liking alot........are there any othere (child friendly) HO games you can recommend?

Off the top of my head, the Mystery P.I. series from Popcap stays away from the paranormal stuff. The first two Mystery Casefiles games (Huntsville and Prime Suspects) aren't especially creepy although they do set a darker tone in general.

There are these other two games, and I can't remember their names. It's a series and you are finding stuff to sell so you can make over your mansion and/or garden.

Samantha Swift might fit the bill, as might The Serpent of Isis and its sequel.

Not exactly hidden object, but I bet they would really like the Back to the Future games by Telltale.

I got shadow warrior and I'm very pleased, already worth $10 with 2 hours played also got natural selection with some friends, hopefully gonna give that a go later today. Should have bought risk of rain when it was 20% off but thought it would be lower.

Ended up buying maybe 25% from Steam and 75% from Amazon. Others such as GreenManGaming were useless to me.

X-COM: All game since very first one to newest (minus only the very newest DLC) ($10)
The Walking Dead (All Season 1) + 400 Days ($6.25 + $1.25)
Max Payne 3 ($4)
L.A. Noire ($4)
World of Goo ($2.50)

Total: $30

Still waiting on another couple games to show up on during Xmas sale.

First Steam sale in a long time I didn't buy anything. The were a few titles I thought about getting but just didn't pull the trigger. Meh, there's always the winter sale.

Started playing and put a few hours into call of Juarez: gunslinger, worth every penny! Pretty damn fun so far, recommend keeping that on a wish list for winter sale.

The sale kind of sucked this year. I only bought one game, Shadow Warrior 2013, for 9.99.

I paid retail for it, and I think it was STILL worth every penny.

I forgot that I had also bought ACIII from Amazon. Complete package for $15. Also switched my ownership of the series from 360 to PC. AC1-AC:R on 360. ACIII and onward will be on PC.

I played the first and enjoyed it, but didn't think it was like super amazing. Have you guys played the first one/what do you like about the 2nd one?

I made it through this steam sale without spending a nickel.

I will likely survive the Christmas sale unscathed. I got what I wanted, and then some (as usual). At least none of these were "just" low-price impulse buys. They were all on my wishlist.

CoJ is good, but Bound in Blood is better. The Cartel is terrible, skip.

Shadowrun is freakin EXCELLENT.

Was worried it might disappoint but so far I am enjoying myself.
Familiarity with the desktop game helps a lot.

Only complaints are limited, quirky inventory, and auto-save system.

good to hear. I am away for the weekend, so didn't want to start it up until I get back.

have you fiddled with the workshop at all? Looks like some decent stuff so far.

Nope. I assume people will be making awesome mods eventually.

I just started with a simple street samurai. Was unhappy to see even though you are supposedly an experienced runner, you have no cyberware and only a basic pistol.

Also, when you finally do get access to cyberware it seems to cost a lot of essence. Much more than I recall from the books. You cant implant as much cool stuff.

BUt those are just nitpicks. Overall the game is solid and playable.

Its my first coj game, so I've nothing to base it on compared to the series. My understanding was that gunslinger kinda strays from how the others were but I may be off on that.

Its short, took me just 6 hours on normal which, while I wouldn't mind it lasting an hr or two more, seemed right. It let's you play again ala borderlands so I'll probably do that.

cool. in the Shadowrun thread, people were saying that Deckers and the whole hacking element ended up being rather useless in the end--just not enough content for it.
