I have played zero Skyrim

Yeah, I'm going to pick up Skyrim and am curious about this as well.

More curious on the mod scene. I've read so much on mods, mod managers, etc. it makes my head spin.

If you get into Skyrim, the DLCs are a decent addition. They flesh out certain aspects and add some discrete features. However, the DLCs are not fundamental to the game by any means and if you don't like the underlying game, I seriously doubt the DLCs will add nearly enough to bring you around. If you're really price sensitive, I would buy the base game now, play it for a few weeks and see if you like it. If you do, wait for the DLCs to inevitably come back on sale during the X-mas sale.

The vanilla game is worth $60. I'm about to pay $20 just for the DLC< and I've already put 400 hours into this game.

that's the thing. The DLC is basically candy. Elder Scrolls games--Bethesda games, really, are made great by the mod community.

I've developed two meta-pastimes over the years:

--adding movies to my Netflix queue (now 340+), never watching them
--browsing Nexus and reading about mods, adding maybe 10% of the ones I look at.

that's only recent, though, since I just started replaying it. Some of it is necessary, though--Sky UI, the texture pack and other texture enhancements, etc.

that's like throwing $7 dollars away, though (DLC alone right now is $23--this costs MORE than the LE--and will likely not be cheaper at XMas), which is another steam game.

Just think, this purchase, could have been another! This ring, this watch, I could have saved another!

The 3 "main" pieces of DLC are Year of the Snake, Zodiac Tournament, and Nightmare in North Point. The rest is mostly items/filler.

Yes, that deal includes all of the Season 1 episodes (5). It's a great game at full price, but for $6 it's a steal. Highly recommended.

SuperMeatBoy also at $3. Seems like a well made game with great reviews, though not a concept/gameplay mechanic i'm THAT fond of. But for 3 bucks (80% off) it's hard to argue so think I might pick it up too.

Anyone else want to chime in on World of Goo VS SuperMeatBoy? Which is better / you enjoyed more?

I preferred the style of gameplay of World of Goo - you could play around and find various ways to solve the puzzles / levels.

Super Meat Boy - you have to like difficult games and dying over and over and over until you succeed.

I preferred the style of gameplay of World of Goo - you could play around and find various ways to solve the puzzles / levels.

Super Meat Boy - you have to like difficult games and dying over and over and over until you succeed.

They're completely different games. SMB is the best 2D platformer ever imo.
World of Goo is a physics based puzzle game, quite good as well, so choose the one that fits your style.
