Hmmm... GTA 4 is also available with MP3 for $8. So, MP3 + GTA4 or LA Noire? I've not played any of these games (and probably won't for a long while after I buy them).

GTA 4, and any of the GTA series, seem to be more about open world play, do what you want, no need to follow the main story, just go about town and find as much stupid shit to do as you can. These games seem to have LOTS and lots of content to explore and find.

Lots of people really enjoy this, but I personally don't have the time for this and so I prefer a more story-driven game.

Just wanted to throw a quick recommendation to Call of Juarez Gunslinger.
I picked it up yesterday, and have been having a lot of fun going thru the campaign.
The graphics and levels are surprisingly good looking and interesting, and the way the story is told as the action happens is great.
Definitely one to keep on your radar if you enjoy single player FPS's.

I loved Gunslinger. of course, i like westerns, old west firearms, etc too.

I've been hesitant to get another Call of Juarez game because the original was so short. Do you know how long the game is?

I don't - I'm maybe 2-3 hours into it.
But I'm odd in that I don't need a 15 hour game- I prefer a 5-7 hours of gameplay.

I have to disagree. To me, B1 was a lot better than B2.

B2 was like a console port to the pc. It seemed just too scripted for my taste.

B1 had its badparts, but it was overall a solid game.

I used to prefer BL1, but I have since changed, after going back and trying to play through BL1 again.

First--I'm not sure how BL2 is like "a console port to PC" and BL1 isn't? Mechanically, they are virtually identical. Interface, save spots, questing, leveling and skills, etc (same for both). I guess I'm not sure what you mean by that--and how it can't apply to BL1 equally.

BL1 feels very much dated in comparison--the AI pathing is pretty bad, the run mechanics don't feel as solid and natural as they do in BL2.

BL1 has 2 classes out of 4 that are very good. The other two (Soldier) are weak, or completely useless (Brick/Berzerker). BL2 has, basically, 3 out of the 4 base classes that are very good to, well, OP (Gunzerker), and the 2 bonus pack classes are very fun, and quite unique, and very good at late game.

DLC is almost equal--Knoxx for BL1 is amazing, likewise Tiny Tina's for BL2. BL2 has much, much better story elements (BL1 had no story...at all) and better characters overall (as one example--Torgue Flexington is just amazing--need Torgue's DLC) and Jack is an actual villain, which is something that is completely missing from BL1. The only interesting character in BL1 is General Knoxx, which requires his DLC.

The main campaign in BL2 is much longer and while the broken playthrough system (need to beat the game once to unlock the second playthrough to play the "real game") is still there, you aren't going to overlevel yourself like one does in BL1 about 20% into the game. So, at least something was fixed with that problem...

The only thing that I think is better in BL1 is the gun randomization (Actually more potential guns) and totally random loot drops. Legendaries dropping from certain bosses in BL2 is nice, and if you are into farming one will probably dig that...but the way the guns are balanced in BL2, many of those legendaries are necessary to get through UVHM and DLC (in UVHM). With BL1, there were still plenty of very good blue/purple guns. Yes, there are a few very good blue guns in BL2, but they tend to be limited/mission specific items that you will rarely see in a loot table.

But, I digress--the prices on Steam today are PATHETIC for BL2. Do not buy BL2 on Steam today or any of its content at those prices. It has been much, much cheaper almost a dozen times over the last month or so, even on Steam.

By the way...came here to see if anyone can comment on Shadowrun Returns. There is a thread that was around briefly, when the game was released. A few people got it and enjoyed it, and I've been eyeing it for a while.

Anyone that is a fan of the old Shadow Runs (esp. SNES version) can comment on this new one? I'm wondering how true it holds and if it has matured since release--patches, workshop activity, etc. I seem to recall perks like slicing--or whatever it is called--being completely useless on the release version?

Rome 2 50% off. Snagged it! I didn't think they would go lower than 1/3 off but they did. I'm doubting it will get cheaper but if it does I'm okay with that. I feel good paying half price.

Thank you! I missed the last Amazon flash sale the other day, and had been resisting buying it for $30. Got it for $25 this time around.

Castle Story is a odd game. Not in a bad way, but it has lots of bugs being one of those paid alpha games. It is kinda fun, but a steep learning curve. Lots of fun options in building/digging.

I think of it as a advanced minecraft game, you can build awesome things, but its HARD to do. Being alpha lots of times you will get to a spot you can't continue because of a outstanding bug which is frustrating, but each time a start a sandbox game i learn something new.

Was it worth the $13? sure i got 3 hours out of it so far, and the developer guy seems to legit guy. He lets you know what he is doing and why more often than some. I don't recommend this for those without patience though, it can be a dumb game sometimes with bugs/incomplete features at the moment.

The multiplayer seems like it could be a blast in the long run, making castles/mines and fighting other team with knights and archers? oh hells yah.

I loved the old SNES one so really was looking forward to this one. I like this one as well, but I haven't spent nearly enough time on it. For the sale price I think it is well worth it.

They're on patch 7 or 8 now, right? What state is the game in?

I almost got Dishonored for $5, which is a great deal, but the Game of the Year Edition might be the one the wait for I think.

I am a Shadowrun player and I didnt think the SNES version did the setting justice. Just got the new one on Steam, am hoping it can do better.
Shit, they've had 20 years!

Eff it. I bought Bioshock Infinite. I also decided to get my own DSL connection with a huge data cap -- eff other (control freak) people in house.

Kind of interested in Rollercoaster Tycoon. Hmmm...

Well, the only thing I know about Shadowrun is the SNES game, and I thought it was fantastic. I briefly played the Genesis game, some years later on an emulator, but stopped before I got an hour into it...don't remember why; just didn't dig it.

There on 7 and coming up on 8. The AI still is horrid as we as some of the numerous bugs that are still with the game 3 months after release especially the AI using burning torches on gates instead of siege equip.
As buggy as the game still is as well as the streamlining/missing features from previous titles id say 29.99 is a somewhat fair price.
