Never played the DC version, but went ahead an purchased because I want to like this 'game.'

I spent about 45 minutes with Typing of the Dead last night.

It's cheesy.

It has a few glitches ( audio hiccups between cut scenes. )

It's unbelievably M-rated. I was originally thinking this could be used by my younger son to have fun beefing up his typing skills ... no way. The first 2 minutes of gameplay has about 15 "Mother F**c*ers" ... not to mention the second level hooker level.

It's actually pretty damn fun. Just not for the kids.

Yep, but you've both been convincing enough. I'm in. Thanks!

You are welcome.

The first 30 - 45 minutes of fallout 3 seemed rather cheesy. I was almost ready to hang it up when I got outside.

Once outside, its like holy crap.

Just hang in there and the game gets better as it goes along.

Put me in the camp of believing that FO3 and FO:NV are both no-brainers at this price point if you enjoy RPGs at all.

If you haven't played a Fallout game before you might want to take a look at a guide on how to best initially spec out your character before you get started but it's not necessary.

Don't Starve? I'm on the fence on that one as well. I'd probably mindless buy if it was $2.50. I like the concept.

I agree, at $2.50 I would buy it without question. I played the demo and enjoyed it, but I just don't know how long it would remain entertaining. With the number of games I have in my backlog, a game needs to be pretty special for me to pay more then $5 for it.

I'm thinking about Fallout 3. Should I go game of the year or new Vegas? Can new Vegas be played without the base game?

For $5 a piece I'd pick up both. However, I remember some people having problems with FO3 on Windows 7. You might want to check the forums first to see if the problems have been resolved. FO3 would be my pick between the two since it gives you a better introduction to the Fallout universe.

The only game I picked up was Outlast. I was interested in the Castlevania game until I read that it follows more in the footsteps of games like God of War rather than Castlevania. Too bad steam only has classic genesis games since I'd love to play Castlevania IV again.

FO3 works great on Windows 7 64-bit. There's an ini file tweak for it to set the number of cores / threads it uses:

no, how to survive.

i have don't starve and quit playing it. its so damn boring and repetitive quick. it's hard to do anything because trying to keep up your stats is a huge pain. plus at night, you're pretty much stuck at your camp.

I see what you mean now, sounds kind of cool. Doesn't seem to be a big discount and while I don't put a lot of stock in metacritic its score isn't great. I'd prefer a first person POV as well.

Have you played the left 4 dead series?

Besides the fallout games and the left 4 dead games, are their any gems on sale?

Castlevania:LOS was pretty good if you like the Ninja Gaiden/DMC/God of War style games. For anyone that still hasn't played them, Bioshock 1+2 are both really good. I'd also recommend Alan Wake as well.

Hmm sounds interesting, I'll have to pick it up.

I'm thinking about the Penumbra Collection and Deadlight, any thoughts?

The Penumbra collection was $2.50 so I bought it. I played the demo way back and while I didn't get into it enough to buy it at the time I liked where it was going.

Penumbra is probably my favorite horror series ever. Play Overture, and then play Black Plague, in that order. (Requiem is skippable since it's just an expansion pack with puzzles, no story.)

Deadlight is skippable IMO. Pretty mediocre sidescrolling zombie survival platormer.

Thanks guys, I picked up Magicka, Penumbra Collection and Cthulhu Saves the World/Breath of Death VII. Heck, two games for under $1, even if they both sucked I wouldn't really be disappointed.

Really enjoyed the Walking Dead episode 1....but god damn did people actually pay $25 or $30 or whatever it was when it first came out?

Game only lasted like an hour!

No one paid $25 or $30 for a single episode. The entire season (all 5 episodes) was purchasable for $25 tops (and it always has been). They've never charged that much for only a single episode.

Each episode was about 90 minutes long for me, so the whole first season was somewhere around 8 hours long.
