I finally caved on Just Cause 2 and Scribblenauts./ 8.50 out of my $18.xx from cards gone, free is a good price.

If you don't get $3 of enjoyment out of Just Cause 2, you are a communist terrorist. I bought the game three times, because I'll just do that sort of thing when I like a game.

Scribblenauts, I bought also. Looks like a whole new genre of gaming. Put an hour in so far (but so many new games to play). Funny when a hint said something about a school, and I spawned a schoolhouse building that sunk to the bottom of the underwater level I was on. Thinking this is my best purchase so far, as far as wonder/fun goes.

Anyone play Super Meat Boy?

The premise always turned me off, but I picked up the Binding of Isaac for $2, and that has far stranger stuff... and I spent 60 hours on it so far.

So is Super Meat Boy good? I generally dislike jump-puzzles, and it seems that is the entire game from the videos.
Unlike The Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy is a good game.

I'm not finding this info on Steam:

difference between Endless Space--Emperor Edition and Gold edition?

Emperor is currently 1 dollar cheaper, gold says it includes the disharmory DLC...but there is no more information on what emperor includes. Is that just the name of the base game?

"Emperor edition" sounds to me like it has extra stuff....like all the stuff.

And is it worth it? I love a good 4x space (I think this was discussed in that that thread, I'll go back and look at those posts). Meaning--should I spend the money on a type of game I love that I will most likely never play?
:hmm:

Put simply, these Steam sales are evil.

They cause money to bizarrely disappear from your bank account,at all random times."oops, just bought another game..and just 1 more game..and it never ends.."

I watched my little brother play Super Meat Boy. He's so much better at gaming than I and even he was frustrated at a lot of the levels. I have it as part of a past indie bundle. Seeing what it is, there is no way in hell I'm going to ever install it, much less attempt to play it. It would surely be a practice in frustration resulting in a controller shape hole in my LCD.

Bought Sleeping Dogs for $6.24.

Just couldn't resist for that price. Looking forward to it. You guys recommend a gamepad for it, or do the mouse+keyboard controls work well?

I recommend a gamepad for it, personally. Given that the game mostly involves hand-to-hand melee combat and driving, with not very much shooting, gamepad feels more comfortable.

Sometimes they mess up (or back pedal?) on deals, and change them to the correct amount, if you bought the game before they do it they honor the original price.

That's cool. I just find that it's weird that they did that after it being up for 5 hours. Meh, at least I got in before it changed.

Dunno about the DLC, but the game itself was a bit like a generic GTA made in China. It had more kung-fu, but only if you had your enemy near an 'instant kung-fu death spot'.

Batman AA/AC has the best fighting available you will see this decade. Sleeping Dogs is more of a contextual button presser... you won't pull off punches that you link into a deadly kill move; you'll hope you can grab your enemy by a spot that lets you instant-kill them via predefined scripted kill-spots.

It is pretty good, but I would never call it a great game.

I actually loved Sleeping dogs and finished it, while both Batman games I never made it more than 5 or so hrs in w/out getting bored... different strokes I guess.

Same here. Sleeping Dogs is one of my favorite open-world games by far. More fun than GTA 4 and Saints Row 3. (I'm probably in the minority on this.)
On the other hand, I didn't enjoy either of the Batman games, even though the combat is similar.

Ys: Oath in Felghana was amazing. I've been waiting for Ys Origin to go on big sale for a year. It's 66% today (like Chronicles), but I'm holding out for 75% or I'll probably just grab it on the last day. I & II Chronicles are similar games in the same universe, but they're allegedly not as good as Oath and Origin. Anyone play them all and care to weigh in?

Picked up some DLCs for Anno 2070 (Deep Ocean) and Sleeping Dogs (Year of the Snake), both of which I have been wanting to get for a while anyway. Missed the flash deal on the Dragonborn DLC sadly.

Might jump on Max Payne if it does hit 75%. Nothing else in my sight otherwise.

Maybe it's just me, but I think this sale has been better than the last 2 sales. I've bought more in two days than the last 2 combined.

God Mode
Sleeping Dogs
Strike Suit Infinity
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
GTA IV
Legend of Grimrock
Dark Souls
System Shock 2
Ion Assault
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Demigod
McPixel

Sleeping Dogs DLC package is 50% off now but still like $27.

Worth it?

I really liked Sleeping Dogs, but I doubt the whole DLC pack is worth it. A lot of that stuff is just weapons or other junk. I think the "main" DLC packs with missions/story are:

Nightmare in North Point
Year of the Snake
Zodiac Tournament

Grabbed GodMode. A pretty fun game so far, just wish more people were playing it as it's basically a co-op only game.

Ok I changed my Steam name to JFMBearcat for anyone that wants to add me, should be easier to find lol. I play lots of different games and am always looking for multiplayer/co-op friends.
