Have been waiting a while for the summer sale but am not impressed with the ones that I don't already have so far. $12.49 for TombRaider is a steal but I vowed long ago to never buy another TR game and am of my word so that one is out for me.
Thinking about Heroes 6 just to try something new and different but I'm normally not into strategy games but always liked how epic they seem.

I have more hours into this game than anything else in my library -- my wife and I had an absolute blast playing this last winter. Searching the garages in obscure locations for the classic vehicles and then taking them out for a sandbox spin was a lot of fun. The overall insight you get into that period in automobile history (1930s-40s) is a really interesting digression as well.

Sadly I never could get too much into it. I played maybe 1/4 of the way through and it all the felt the same. Though I would love to see more games of this type created.

Why? That sounds kind of dumb. You're missing out on a great game. Your loss.

List is growing :

McPixel - if ever there is a 60" touchscreen, this will be the ultimate party game
Hotline Miami - starting to like this, didn't at first
Scribblenauts - pretty cool, I'd almost call it a strategy art program
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider 1
Tomb Raider 2
Tomb Raider 3 (1-3 all $.62 each; will enjoy playing these again)
Witcher 2 - already own the boxed version, but $5 isn't much and I like the devs
Left 4 Dead 2 - why not

Hoping Prison Architect will go on sale soon. Pretty sure it will since there is a summer sale card for it.

May I ask why? Just curious.

Who cares. Besides I stick to my vows no matter how dumb some dude out there thinks it is.

Don't think it'll matter- but I really really did not like the early TR games (haven't tried any of the more recent releases for that reason) - but I gave the new one a shot and am absolutely loving it. Great game.

Made my first purchases of the sale: Tomb Raider and Sniper GW2

Tomb Raider wasn't even on my radar until I saw it pop up for sale today, but from watching game play footage and everyone raving about it on here, I decided to give it a shot - downloading now!

There's a game for free on Steam called Cry of Fear. It looked kind of interesting and has lots of recommends. I'm not sure if it's always free or not (I think it might be). Just throwing it out there.

Ended up getting Tomb Raider from Amazon's pricematch + 15% off 'gooncave' coupon - $10.62.

LA Noire is a delightful, wonderful game. It's a rare treat.

I first bought LA Noire on sale about a year and a half ago for $15, when the game was a little more recent. I hesitated because of the $15 price-tag, which I thought was a little too high. It piqued my curiosity, but did I really need to play the game right now? Surely the price would go down in later sales. But... I broke down and purchased it anyway.

Looking back, I was absolutely silly to ever hesitate about buying LA Noire. What a fucking brilliant game. For the past decade or so, I've been disappointed in the landscape of detective/adventure games; it feels like the entire crime-solving and mystery genre has been delegated to small, low-budget, bargain bin titles and mediocre indie creations. No; role-playing, shooting, and action is all the kiddies ever want to play anymore. Games where you have to solve problems by thinking critically have gone by the wayside.

Then comes along LA Noire: A top-of-the-line, big-budget, open-world adventure game from a major studio and publisher, containing a fully-realized 1940's Los Angeles complete with modern graphics, cutscenes, voice acting, driving, and everything. You slip into the shoes of a former WWII war hero who's been assigned to a detective position for the LAPD. You open new cases, investigate crime scenes in a variety of different environments, gather clues and locations in your notebook, and trail suspects. To mix things up, there are bursts of action that involve high-speed car chases and shootouts with gangsters.

The best part is the interrogation though. You sit down with people, interrogate them, and determine based on evidence whether they're telling the truth or lying. Character dialogs are exceptionally well-written and conversations can get rather heated. The graphics are so detailed, in fact, that you can use the interviewee's facial expressions to decide whether or not they're being honest. People will uncomfortably twitch, shift around in their chairs, and and avoid eye contact with you if they're being shady.

I've never seen anything like it. They used a proprietary motion-capture technology to record the minute details of characters' emotions and body language. You really feel like you're drilling into the minds of people, trying to squeeze out of them whatever information you can.

I strongly recommend LA Noire to anyone who's even remotely interested.

It will be a long time before we see another game like this.

Tempted...worth grabbing the DLC too for a total of $7.49? And would you recommend this over Hitman:Absolution?

Any opinions on the Fez soundtrack? I could probably listen to it on YouTube, but a quick opinion is nice too.

So, I was picking up a few things from Target earlier, and I ran into one of the workers that I've gotten to know ('cause I go there too often!). We were talking, and she says, "Oh, I bought these games off Steam!" My first thought? "Uh oh..."

Me: "So, uhh... is this your first Steam sale?"
Her: "Yeah!"
Me: "I feel sorry for your wallet."

She thinks she won't fall victim, but I'm pretty sure we all thought that at one point!

Yes and yes. The DLC is totally worth the extra two bucks; it simply adds extra missions that integrate seamlessly with the storyline. And I would recommend LA Noire over Hitman Absolution any day. (Even though Hitman is still pretty good.)

Has anyone played I Am Alive? I heard mediocre things at release on 360. Any opinions on PC?

It's an interesting, but flawed game. I give it credit for having some ideas that I've never seen in a video game before. I'd say it's worth checking out for a fiver.

I don't like the electronic 'chip' music, but there are raves about the soundtrack to Fez.

Check the steam forum for a thread discussing it.
